Biography* Evelyn A. McLaughlin Tuohy, 1912-1997:
Evelyn was the sixth of nine children and the fifth of six daughters born to Thomas McLaughlin, a first generation Irish-Canadian-American farmer born in Minnesota, and Anna Funk, a first generation German-American also born in Minnesota. In 1920, the family lived on a rented farm in Salem township of Olmsted County. In 1930, Evelyn and three of her siblings lived with their widowed mother in a rented home in Kassan Village, Dodge County. Evelyn moved to Rochester circa 1940. She worked as a welder at Waters Conley during World War II. In 1946, Evelyn started work at Rochester Methodist hospital. She married widower Leo Tuohy in 1964. Leo died in 1972 and Evelyn retired in 1974. In 1986 she lived at 902 11th Avenue NW, Apt 703, in Rochester. Evelyn was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and was a foster grand-parent for years.

Evelyn Agnes Tuohy, 85, of 626 Shields Avenue, Wabasha, died on a Wednesday at Saint Elizabeth Health Care Center in Wabasha. Cause of death was chronic renal failure (weeks), diabetes mellitus (years) and liver cirrhosis. She was attended by physician Gregory L. Angstman (MD), 224 Alleghany Ave, Wabasha. Evelyn was survived by one son, eight-grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, a sister Mildred Lutz of Saint Paul, and a brother Thomas R. McLaughlin of Byron. Evelyn's husband, two-brothers and four-sisters preceded her. The funeral was held on Saturday at Saint Pius X Catholic church with Rev Michael Cronin officiating. Macken Funeral Home was in charge.
