Biography* Siricius "Cy" Tuohy, 1897-1970:
Cy's christening sponsors were Martin and Mary Manahan (his father's brother and his wife?). Cy grew up on farms in Chatfield township, Fillmore County, Minnesota and in Elmira township, Olmsted County. When he registered for the WWI draft in 1918, his address was RFD 3, Chatfield. He was described as a man of short height and medium build with blue eyes and dark hair. By 1930, married and with two sons, Cy and Lucille were renting a farm in Elmira township, Olmsted County. He continued to farm until 1948 when the family moved to Minneapolis. There Cy was employed as state grain weigher. After his 1967 retirement, he and wife Lucille moved to Rochester where they lived at 421 ???? Street NW.

Cy, 72, collapsed while mowing the lawn on a Wednesday. In ventricular fibrillation, he was brought to the Emergency Room at Saint Mary's hospital in Rochester where he died. Cause of death was coronary thrombosis (hours), coronary sclerosis (years). Cy was attended by physician Theodore O. Wllner (MD), Rochester. He was survived by his widow Lucille, two sons, 14-grandchildren, one brother Leo of Rochester, two sisters Mrs Edne Thorson of Chatfield and Mrs Martin Campion of Lake City. One son preceded Cy in death. The funeral was held on Friday at Saint Mary's Catholic church with Rev N. F. Grulkowski officiating. Pallbearers were William and Donald Manahan, Joseph Tuohy, Gerald Clemens, Harry LaPlante and John Ward. Honorary bearers were Rex Harwood, John Manahan, Floyd Richter and Jay Keefe. Akeson Funeral Home, Chatfield and Macken Funeral Home 1105-12th Sreet SE, Rochester were in charge.

Biography* Lucille M. LaPlante Tuohy, 1905-2003:
Lucille, the fourth of eight and the second daughter, was raised on a farm in Orion township, Olmsted County, Minnesota. Her father Henry was born in New York to parents also born in New York. Lucille's mother Mary was a first generation Irish-American born in Minnesota. Lucille graduated from Eyota High School in 1925 and then attended Saint Teresa's Teachers College in Winona for a year. After her 1926 marriage, she and her husband Cy lived in Nisswa, Minnesota in Crow Wing County. They returned to the Chatfield area for a time and then lived in Minneapolis. After husband Cy retired they lived in Rochester awhile eventually returning, finally, to Chatfield. There Lucille was a member of Saint Mary's Altar Society.

Lucille M Tuohy, 98, died on a Thursday at Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield where she had resided since 1994. She was survived by one son, 13-grandchildren, and 18-great-grandchildren and sister Rosemary LaPlante of Rochester. Lucille was preceded by two sons, a grandson, four brothers and two sisters. The funeral was held on Monday at Saint Mary's Cathoic church in Chatfield with the Reverends Thomas Loomis and Joseph LaPlante co-officiating. Lucille was buried in Calvary cemetery in the spring. Riley Funeral Home of Chatfield was in charge.
