Biography* | Bridget Gallagher Welch Ryan, 1857-1922: Bridget immigrated to the U.S. circa 1874. In 1882, she was married to John Welch in Winona, Minnesota by Rev Cotter (CP). After the marriage they lived in the New Winona House where John was the proprietor. After 1885, John and Bridget returned to the Welch family farm in Warren township in Winona County. John died in 1890 and was buried in the Welch/Considine family plot. In 1895, Bridget Welch was still living in Warren township.. Bridget's sister-in-law Ann Gallagher and niece Ellen Gallagher, were living with her. The following year Bridget married James Ryan, a second marriage for both. In 1900, Bridget and James were living in Warren township. Ellen Gallagher was still with her. They moved to Winona City circa 1912 and in 1916 her 2nd husband, James Ryan, died. In 1920, Bridget, a widow, was living in a house at 520 Main Street in Winona's 2nd ward. She owned the house free of mortgage. Bridget, 65, who lived alone, died on a Monday at Winona General hospital. Mrs Mary Duggan, of 516 Main Street, was informant on the death cert. Cause of death was cerebral apoplexy (3-days) and myocarditis chronic. She was attended by Dr. B. P. Rosenburg of Winona. The funeral was held on Wednesday at the Cathedral in Winona with the Rev J. P. Sherman officiating. Rev Doyle of Lanesboro assisted with the services. Pallbearers (all nephews): James Towey, Thomas Towey and Edward Gallagher of Minneapolis; Henry Gallagher, Edw Considine and Leo Considine of Winona. Out-of-town attendees included: Mrs Helen Wright of Oklahoma, Mrs Mary Keating of Wabasha, Miss Catherine Gallagher of Grand Forks, North Dakota, Mrs Margaret Delaney of Chatfield, M/M John Ryan & daughters of Lanesboro, Mrs Travis & daughter of La Crosse.
