Biography* | John Healy, 1915-1975: John worked for the Victorian Railways Union and was well known and respected in union and political circles. He was a strong supporter of the Australian Labor Party. While John never married, there is some mystery surrounding John’s relationship status. At the time of his death, his sister Mary and brother-in-law Frederick went to Dimboola to identify the body. Upon seeing the body, they noticed a wedding band on his finger, which Frederick removed, stating that it was John’s business and no one else’s. Later in that year, a mysterious woman arrived at the Healy house with a birthday gift for John’s niece, Therese, from John. It is believed that this may have been his partner. |

Biography* | Mary Healy Evans, 1916-2010: During her younger years, Mary was offered work as a model by the Myer Department Store. An image of her was displayed in the store’s window. However, when her father passed the window and saw the photo, he promptly entered the store and demanded that the manager remove the image, as his daughter was not to be a model. He insisted that she be well educated and Mary later gained work as a public servant in the Public Works Department. Mary, 94, died on a Monday at Geelong Hospital. She was survived by a daughter, a sister-in-law, nieces, nephews and others. The funeral was held on Friday at Holy Family church, Separation Street, Bell Park. |

Biography* | Frederick Thomas Evans, 1916-2005: Frederick had been married previously. His first wife passed away in 1958. He had two children to this marriage. Mary Healy, who became Frederick's 2nd wife, had been a friend of Frederick’s first wife and it is in this way that they met. The second union produced one issue. Frederick, 89, died on a Saturday, the day before Christmas. |
