John moved to Minnesota circa 1871 and was married there to Bertha Becker in 1877 by Ph. von Rohr (Lutheran Minister) before witnesses Dietrich Bohn and Emma Becker (Bertha's sister?). In 1880, the family was living on 5th Street in Winona, Minesota's 1st ward. And by 1900 they were renting at 115 Sugarloaf in the 4th ward. John retired circa 1918 and by 1920 was renting at 768 West Braodway in the 1st ward. He was a member of Independent Order of Odd Fellows (IOOF). John, 74, died at his home on a Thursday.
