Biography* Edward Jacob Kelly, c1889-1924:
There is conflicting evidence on Edward's birthplace. He came to Sauk County from Cleveland, Ohio but probably was born in New York, in or near Rochester. In 1915, he was listed in the Saint Luke's church marriage register as "of Cleveland, Ohio." In 1916, he was living in Spring Green and working as a laborer. In 1919, he was living at 12 North Blair Street in Madison and working as a fireman/boilermaker.

Edward, about 39 years-of-age, died on a Sunday at the Soldiers Home (VA) Hospital, Milwaukee of cancer of the spine. A former Private in Company I of the 28th U.S. Infantry, Edward was buried on Wednesday in the Veteran's Section of Wood Memorial Cemetery.
