Biography* | Barbara Pulvermacher Meister, 1869-1946: Barbara was probably born in Roxbury, Dane County. The family moved to Plain in Sauk County while Barbara was still an infant. Barbara was married by the Rev. Stephen Duren with witnesses Martin H. Meister, her husband's brother, and Theresia Pulvermacher, her own sister. She subsequently gave birth to seven children, two of whom predeceased her. She died in her sleep, at age 77, on a Saturday night at the home of her son Anton in Loretto. In addition to five children she was survived by one brother and three sisters. Her funeral was held at Saint Luke's in Plain on Thursday with the Rev. P. A. Beschta officiating. |

Biography* | Peter Meister, 1866-1944: Born in Bavaria, Peter immigrated to the United States in 1882. He settled in Bear Creek Township, Sauk County, Wisconsin and worked as a farmer. He owned his own farm with a mortgage. Peter, age 73, died at his home on a Thursday. He was survived by his wife, one daughter, three sons, 26 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, one brother, and one sister. One son and two daughters preceded him in death. Funeral services were held on Monday at Saint Luke's in Plain and officiated by the Rev. Peter A. Beschta who was assisted by the Rev. W. Multerer of Sauk City and the Rev. N. Beschta of Loretto. Six of Peter's grandsons served as pall bearers. |

Biography* | Anna Bindl Pulvermacher, 1885-1966: Anna was born in Plain to a father born in Germany and a mother born in Wisconsin. Her mother died in 1895 and her father married Balthasar Neuheisel's widow Theresa Alt in 1896. Sometime before this marriage, he moved the family to Spring Green. After her own marriage in 1906, Anna and her husband farmed in Bear Creek Township of Sauk County. After their retirement, Anna and her husband moved to Boscobel, Grant County where their daughter Bertha Farrell and their son Lawrence lived. Anna, age 80, died on a Saturday at a Muscoda nursing home after a long illness. She died the day after her sister Elizabeth Needham died. Anna was survived by eight sons, five daughters, 47 grandchildren, 52 great grandchildren, one brother, and two sisters. She was predeceased by her husband and one daughter. Funeral services were held on Tuesday from Immaculate Conception Catholic church in Boscobel. |

Biography* | James Joseph Ryan, 1868-1940: Born in New Jersey to an Ireland born father and a New Jersey born mother, James was in Spring Green by the time of his 1893 marriage. He moved his family to Janesville from Spring Green in 1898. James was renting at 101 Lincoln there in 1900 and at 313 Lins Street in 1910. He owned a mortgaged house at 603 Park Avenue in 1920 and lived in that house untril his death. James worked as a laborer in a button factory; as a painter; and, as a railroad laborer before joining the dry goods store of J. M. Bostwick and Sons. He was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters. James, age 70, died at his home on a Thursday after a long illness. He was survived by his wife, six sons, four daughters, 17 grandchildren, three sisters, and two brothers. Funeral services were held on Saturday at Saint Patrick's in Janesville. |
