Biography* | Amos P. "Swede" Loff, 1906-1991: Amos was Wisconsin born of a father born in Sweden and a mother born in Wisconsin. He had one-year of high school education and by 1930, was working as a laborer on a dray line and boarding with Ebest and Lena Oleason in Lodi, Columbia County, Wisconsin. Married in the late 1930s, by 1940 Amos was working as a mechanic although he did not work in the week-ending 31 March. Did not work in 1939 but had other income. A lifetime Lodi resident, Amos worked for the Lodi Canning Company. He died on a Thursday at a Madison hospital at age 84. Amos was survived by his wife Marie, two daughters, two granddaughters, one sister Annie Sigurslid of Sun Prairie, and two sisters-in-law Elsie Loff of Tomah and Angie Loff of Dane. He was preceded in death by two brothers Irwin and Earlin Loff. The funeral service was held on Monday at the Hamre Funeral Home with Rev. Chet Okopski officiating. |
