Biography* | Kathryn Tracy Boss, 1879-1968: Kathryn was the eldest of four children with two younger sisters. Recorded as Katherine at birth, she was called "Katie" or "Kitty" until her marriage in 1900. In later years, she was called "Kathryn", the spelling on her tombstone. Before Kathryn's marriage, she was a teacher at Leydon School in Janesville. In 1910, Kathryn and husband Fred were living at 1403 Williamson Street in Madison's 6th ward, Dane County, Wisconsin. By 1920, they were living at 4152 North Monroe Street in Chicago's 35th ward. By 1930, at 726 Elmwood ave, Oak Park, Cook County, Illinois. In 1940 at 734 Elmwood in Oak Park. In later years, Green Bay, Wisconsin (1960) and finally, by 1968, in Bensonville, Illinois at 40 Sunset Court with her granddaughter. Kathryn, 88, died at home on a Monday after a one-year illness. She was survived by a granddaughter and great-grandson in Bensonville and several cousins in Janesville. The funeral was held on Wednesday at Saint Alexis Catholic Church in Bensonville. Geils Funeral Home, Bensonville was in cjarge. |

Biography* | Maud Helen Tracy Coughlin, 1883-1949: Listed as Helen M. Tracy in her 1905 marriage record, she was most commonly known by her middle name - Maud. She was educated through the 8th grade. By 1910, Maud and husband James were renting in Chicago's 34th ward at 128 North 42nd Avenue. In 1920, they owned a mortgaged house at 3835 Washington Blvd in Chicago's 13th ward. In 1930, at 1038 Latrobe Avenue in Chicago's 37th ward. In 1940 at 1614 La Claire Avenue. And by 1949, at 1613 North LeClaire Avenue. Maud, 68, died on a Tuesday of arteriosclerotic heart disease in Loretto Hospital at 645 South Central Avenue in Chicago. She was survived by her son and siblings Mrs Fred W Boss and Frank Tracy of Green Bay, Wisconsin. She was preceded by her husband James F Coughlin, who had died two-months earlier, and brother Charles Tracy. The funeral was held on Friday at Saint Peter of Canisius Catholic church. Funeral arrangements were made by Layden Hederman Funeral Home of 6843 South Racine Avenue in Chicago. |

Biography* | Francis Michael "Frank" Tracy, 1883-1960: The fourth child and second son, Frank was born on the family farm in Wisconsin, a first generation Candian-American. His father Patrick was born in Canada and his motherJulia in New York. Sometime after 1900, Frank, who had completed one-year of high school, left the home farm and went to work for the railroads. By 1920, he was a conductor living in a mortgaged house in Green Bay, Brown County, Wisconsin. In 1930, he and wife Helen owned a $7,000-house at 127 North Ashland in Green Bay's 15th ward. In 1939, Frank worked 52-weeks and earned $2,700 as a conductor on the railroad. He worked 52-hours the week-ending 31 March 1940. In 1942, at age 59, he registered for the World War II draft as Francis M. Tracy. He was 5ft-11in tall, weighed 185 lbs, with hazel eyes, black & gray hair and ruddy complexion. When Frank died in 1960, he was a retired passenger conductor on the Chicago & North Western Railroad. Frank, aged 77, died in a Green Bay hospital on a Thursday after having been ill for several years. He was survived by one sister Kathryn Boss and predeceased by his wife Helen, one brother Charles Tracy and one sister Maud Coughlin. Funeral services were held in Green Bay on Monday with burial in Janesville. |

In 1939, Mark worked 52-weeks on the Plachy farm and earned $1,560. He worked 75-hours the week-ending 31 March 1940. Later he returned to Sun Prairie. Mark had two wives and two children, one child by each wife. No obituary has been found for himself. Mark, 64, of 215 East Main Street, Sun Prairie, died on a Thursday. |

Florence was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority, the Forresters, and Methodist Hospital Auxiliary. Florence died on a Friday in a Madison hospital at age 83. She was survived by one daughter, three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and two sisters Marie Loff of Lodi and Frances Pellegrino of Reedsburg. Her funeral was held on Tuesday from Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic church. The Rev. Edward J. Erbe officiated. Cress Funeral Home was in charge. |

Biography* | Gladys Mulcahy Schimming Jacobsen, 1903-1981: Gladys was the eldest of six children with one younger sister. She married twice, the first time at age 18. In 1920, Gladys and her first husband Robert were living in Fitchburg township, Dane County, Wisconsin. She married Elmer Jacobsen in 1940 and moved to Verona. Gladys went to work, as a battery inspector, for Ray-O-Vac Corporation in Madison soon after her marriage, retiring in 1967. Gladys, 79, of 2315 Hwy 69, died on a Monday at a local hospital. She was survived by her husband Elmer, a daughter and sister Mrs Lola Bonino all of Verona. The funeral was held on Thursday, 09 July, at the funeral home with Father Anthony F Karls officiating. Frautschi-Cress Funeral Home of 3610 Speedway Rd was in charge. |

Biography* | Lola Mulcahy Bonino, 1912-1986: The fifth of six children and the youngest of two daughters, Lola grew up on a farm in Dane Township of Dane County, Wisconsin. She left the home farm by the time she was 18 and had completed four-years of high school. Lola got married when she was about 19. In 1940, she and her family were renting at 2811 Monroe Street in the 20th ward of Madison. Lola, 74, died in her home at 178 Paoli Street in Verona on a Monday after a long illness. She was survived by one son, his wife and three grandchildren. The funeral service was held on Wednesday from Saint Andrew's Catholic church with the Rev. Delbert Schmelzer officiating. |

She was survived by four daughters, Mrs Harold (Irene) Koch of Lombard, Illinois, Mrs Clarmont (Nellie) Redders of Columbia, South Carolina, Mrs John (Margaret) Kayartz of Wyocena, Wisconsin, and Mrs Donald (Lorraine) Tobias of Madison; three sons, Ray of Coral Bay, Florida, Steven of Rte.1, Dane and George of Madison; one sister, Mrs Nellie Cooper of Madison; 42 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two daughters Mrs Ben (Mabel) Uebersetzig of Waunakee and Mrs Ronald (Charlotte) Arsand of Milwaukee; and two-sons, Daniel of Dane and Rudolph of Indiana. The funeral was held on Monday from Saint John's with the Rev. Elmer Dietzel officiating. Pallbearers were six of her grandsons. Biography* | Steven Galvin Mulcahy, 1910-1982: According to his obituary, Steven was born in the town of West Point in Columbia County, Wisconsin. However, a month before Steven's birth, his parents were living in the town of Dane in Dane County. Although his mother may have been from West Point, it's more likely that Steven was born in Dane. Steven completed four-years of high school. In 1940, he was farming in Dane township on his own account and renting his house for $8/month. Steven worked 80-hours the week-ending 31 March. He continued to farmein the Dane area until his retirement. After that Steven worked for Terra Fertilizer in Dane. Steven died unexpectedly on a Tuesday at a Madison hospital. He was 71. Survivors included his wife, four daughters, three sons, 16 grandchildren, four sisters, and two brothers. Funeral services were held on Friday at the United Church of Christ in Dane with pastor Rev. Lowell Ferris officiating. |

She completed four-years of high school and in 1930 was lodging at 401 East Johnson in Madison's 2nd ward with Emery and Mabel Morehouse. She was working as a stenographer in a garage office. In 1935, Irene was living in Youngstown, Ohio. By 1940, she was married to Harold Olehy and living on North Sheridan Road in the 48th ward of Chicago, Illinois. By 1962, Irene was married for the second time to Harold Koch and living in Lombard, Illinois. In 1976, she was living at 1808 South Meyers Street in that city. Irene was still a resident of Lombard at her death in 1985. |

Mabel was a member of Saint John's Catholic church and its Christian Mothers Society. A lifelong resident of the Dane-Waunakee area, Mabel, 47, died on a Tuesday in a Madison hospital of rheumatic heart congestive heart failure. Mabel was survived by husband Bernard, two sons, her mother Charlotte, five sisters - Mrs Claremont Redders and Mrs Donald Tobias of Madison, Mrs Harold Koch of Lombard, Illinois, Mrs John Kayartz of Portage and Mrs Ronald Arsand of Milwaukee; three brothers - George Mulcahy of Madison, Raymond Mulcahy of Lodi and Steven Mulcahy of Dane and one grandson. The funeral was held on Friday from Saint John's Catholic church in Waunakee. Schwab Funeral Home was in charge. |

Biography* | George Michael Mulcahy, 1918-2001: The 7th of 11 children and the 5th son, George was born and raised on farms in Dane township, Dane County, Wisconsin. In 1941, he was living at Camp Davis, North Carolina. George was in the U. S. Army during WWII and was in the Pacific. He married Gertrude Midthun in 1946. In 1948, they were living in Lodi. Later, they moved to Madison, Wsiconsin and in 1976 were living at 1105 Troy Drive there. George was a member of VFW Post 8483, the American Legion, and the Moose club. He also served as President of AFSME Union Local 13. George liked farming, gardening, woodworking and hunting. He was an avid sportsman. George Mulcahy, 83, of Madison, died on a Sunday at Saint Mary's hospital. He was survived by wife, five children, 10-grandchildren, 10-great grandchildren and a sister Margaret Kayartz of Portage. Geroge was preceded by his parents and two-children. The funeral was held on Thursday at Lakeview Lutheran church, 4001 Mandrake Road, with Rev Dean Kirst officiating. He married a Dane girl and after his marriage he and his bride Margaret lived with her parents. Robert was working for a trucking firm hauling milk. By 1940, he and Margaret were renting on Military Street in Dane Village for $10/month and had a 36-year-old carpenter as a lodger. Robert was in business for himself delivering milk on a route. He worked 50-hours the week-ending 31 March. Circa 1843, Robert became a Dane County Highway patrolman retiring in 1968. He was a member of St. John's Catholic church in Waunakee. Robert, 71, of 100 East 3rd Street, Waunakee, died on a Tuesday at Waunakee Manor Health Care Center after a brief illness. He was survived by his wife Margaret, a son, two sisters, Mrs Harold Nedderman of 300 Woodland Circle and Mrs Trevor Brown of Lake Windsor, two brothers Reed of Fond du Lac and Russell of Dane, and 2-grand-daughters. Robert's funeral was held at St John's, Waunakee on Friday with the Rev. Elmer Dietzeo officiating. Schwab Funeral Home of Waunakee was in charge. |

Mary Ruth and husband Harold were long-time residents of Maple Bluff and were active in community affairs. Mary Ruth was a poll watcher for village elections. Mary Ruth died on a Tuesday in Anchorage, Alaska under the care of Hospice of Anchorage four days after her 79th birtday. Cause of death was cardiac arrest. She was survived by two daughters and siblings Reed Hyslop, Margaret Brown and Russell Hyslop. A memorial service was held on Saturday 22 April at Lake Edge United Church of Christ, 4200 Buckeye Road, Madison. Memorials to Hospice of Anchorage were suggested. |
