There is no additional information in the cemetery record that sheds any light on this anomaly. |

Biography* | Thomas Mulcahy, c1864-1949: No clear evidence of Thomas' birthdate has been discovered. The date ranges from the 15 June 1862 listed by his daughter Marie (Mrs Amos Loff) in his Columbia County death record to 1869 in the 1920 census. Although Thomas almost certainly was born in Hudson, New York6, there is, unfortunately, no christening record for him at Saint Mary's church there. He probably was born in 1864, the fourth of eleven and the third son. Thomas received a fifth-grade education and farmed in the town of Dane for forty years. In 1920, he was living in a house in Sauk City Village, Sauk County that he owned free of mortgage and working as a laborer at a lumber company. By 1930, he was back in Dane township, Dane County and farming. Thomas's wife died in the mid-1930s and by 1940 Thomas was living with his daughter and son-in-law, Marie and Amos Loff, in Lodi Village, Columbia County. Thomas, about 85, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs Amos Loff of Lodi, on a Monday after a lingering illness. Additional survivors were son Harold of Stoughton, daughters Mrs Edward Kessenich of Madison and Mrs F. H. Hanson of Lodi; sisters Mrs Margaret Hyslop of Dane and Mrs Nellie Norwalk of Princeton, Minnesota; brothers David of Verona, Daniel M. of Waunakee and Steven of South Dakota; and 6-grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Wednesday from Saint Michael's in Dane with the Rev. Anthony Reinl officiating and Rev. H. Doherty assisting. Pallbearers were William Madigan, Jack Karls, Peter Karls, Chris Koch, Wolfgang Karls, and Joe Jacobson. Kuestner funeral home in Waunakee was in charge. |

Biography* | Patrick Mulcahy, 1867-1901: Patrick's civil marriage record lists his birthplace as Sun Prairie. His father's obituary suggests that Sun Prairie was his birthplace as well. However, he was most likely born in the town of Burke, the fifth of eleven and the fourth son. Sometime before 1893, Patrick went to work for the railroad as a brakeman. Also, by that time, he had moved to Baraboo in Sauk County. In 1900, he was living at 411 Locke in Baraboo City. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen. Patrick, 33, was found decapitated beside the tracks on a Thursday morning about three a.m. He had gone to Winona on the Northwestern No. 63. It is presumed that, overcome by heat, he fell off the train and was struck by another passing train. He had recently purchased a farm between Baraboo and Devil's Lake and had intended to quit railroading in about two months. Patrick's body was brought back to Baraboo on train No. 4. His funeral was held on Saturday from Saint Joseph's church. |

Biography* | Daniel William Mulcahy, 1878-1962: According to both his Columbia County marriage record and his Dane County death record, Daniel was born in the town of Sun Prairie. And although his parents did live in Sun Prairie (actually Burke township) when they first came to Wisconsin from New York state, by 1878 they were living in the town of Dane. It is much more likely that Daniel was born in Dane township. Daniel, the tenth of eleven children and the eighth son, spent most of his life farming in the rural Dane area. He was a man of medium height and build with brown eyes and dark hair. In 1937, Daniel and his wife retired and moved to Waunakee. He was a member of the Saint Johns Catholic church Holy Name Society. Daniel, 83, died at his home in Waunakee on a Saturday following a long illness.
