Biography* | Edward Peter Kessenich, 1901-1961: One of nine children, Edward was born in Waunakee and was raised on the family farm in Westport township. In 1930, Edward and his wife of four-years were living with her family on their farm in Dane township. Circa 1935 Edward and wife Florence moved into Madison. In 1940, they were renting at 230 Marquette Street in the 16th ward for $25/month. Edward worked 60-hours the week-ending 30 March as a pin setter in a bowling alley. In 1939, he worked 52-weeks and earned wages of $900. Later, Edward was employed at the Nibble Nook hamburger shop, 1 South Park Street. Edward was a member of the Holy Name Society at Our Lady Queen of Peace parish. Edward, 59, of 4129 Euclid Ave, died on a Saturday in a Madison hospital. He had suffered a heart attack at home. He was survived by his wife Florence Mulcahy of Dane, one daughter, four sisters Margaret Wipperfurth of Waunakee, Mrs John T. Hoffman of 1702 N. Sherman Avenue, Mrs C. H. Shattuck of 2017 Rutledge Street, Mrs K. E. Corlett of Wauwatasa and father Peter of Stanley. The funeral was held on Tuesday from Our Lady Queen of Peace, 4133 Mineral Point Rd, with pastor Msgr F. L. McDonnell officiating. Burial was in Resurrection cemetery. Joyce Funeral Home, 540 W Washington Ave, was in charge. |

Biography* | Pearl I. Herden Dittberner Mulcahy, 1913-1991: Pearl's father died when she was less than one-month-old. Her mother Anna then married Roy Holton. Pearl had neither siblings nor step-siblings that we know of. She grew up in Madison, Nebraska and married William Dittberner when she was 18-years-old. They had three children, the oldest two born in Nebraska and circa 1837 the family moved to Sauk County, Wisconsin where the third child was born. By 1940, the family was renting in Prairie-du-Sac, Wisconsin for $5.00/month. William was unemployed and had been seeking work for 18-months as of 30 March 1940. In 1939 he worked at road construction for 20-weeks and earned $407. Sometime after May 1951, Pearl and William divorced and by March 1960 she had married Raymond Mulcahy. Pearl and Raymond lived in Dane, Wisconsin and later moved to Cape Coral, Florida. Pearl, 77, died on a Friday at Vencor hospial in Tampa. She was survived by husband Raymond, a daughter, son, three-stepsons, nine-grandchildren and 11-great-grandchildren. |

Biography* | Daniel E. Norwalk, 1906-1977: Daniel was the eldest of two sons. He was probably born in Dane township, Dane County, Wsconsin where his parents owned a mortgaged farm in 1910. Joseph's father was a first generation German-American whose parents were Bohemians from Austria. Joseph's mother was a first generation Irish-American. He completed three-years of high school. We don't know where Daniel was living in 1930. By 1935, he was living with his parents in Haakon County, South Dakota. Daniel worked as a farm laborer for 48-weeks in 1939 and earned $200. By 1940 he had been married and then divorced. Daniel worked 48-hours in the wek-ending 31 March 1940. Later, he moved to Princeton in Green Lake, Wisconsin. Daniel, 70, died on a Tuesday. |
