Biography* | Harold R. "Ned" Nedderman, 1911-1987: Born in Iowa, the middle son of three, Ned moved to Madison with his family at the age of 3. In 1920 the family owned their home at 726 Willard Avenue in Madison's 6th ward. His father Chris Fred was a traveling salesman for a hosery company. Harold's father had died by 1930 and the family still lived on Willard Avenue at number 2423 in a $7,500 home that the widow Myrtle owned. Harold was very involved in the Boy Scouts and the Shriners. He also worked in the Brat stand at UW football games and liked to make maple syrup in the fall. A resident of Maple Bluff, Ned died on a Thursday after a month long illness. He was 86. Ned was survived by his wife Mary Ruth and twin daughters. A memorial service was held on Saturday at Lake Edge United Church of Christ. The services were officiated by Rev. John Shields. |

Biography* | Beulah Huffman Mulcahy Emerson, 1914-2005: Born in Illinois, the eldest of five children and two daughters, both of Beulah's parents were born in Missouri. In 1920 the family was living on a rented farm in East Fork township of Clinto County, Illinois. In 1930, they owned their farm. Beulah graduated from Caryle High School in 1932. By 1935, she was living in Bossier City, Louisiana. In 1940, Beulah was lodging with Minnie Lee Roscoe at 100 Traffic Street in the 2nd ward and working as a waitress. She worked 48-hours the week-ending 31 March. In 1939, Beulah worked 52-weeks and earned $520. She was a nurses aid at Nazareth House in Stoughton, Dane County until she retired when she was married to Reuben Emerson in 1987. Beulah was the last surviving Gold Star Mother of Stoughton, a member of Ladies V.F.W. Auxiliary and was active in the Stoughton Farmers Market, selling African violets. Beulah, age 90, died on a Tuesday at Nazareth House. She was survived by one son, two daughters, seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Beulah was preceded in death by her husbands, Harold and Reuben; a son, four brothers, Tommy, Harold, Gaylord and Howard; and a sister, Leona. The funeral was held on Saturday at Saint Ann Catholic church, 323 North Van Buren Sreet, Stoughton. Monsignor Gerard Healy officiated. Olson-Holzhuter-Cress Funeral & Cremation Service, 206 West Prospect Avenue, Stoughton was in charge.
