Biography* Manford Carl Widegren, 1904-1973:
Manford, a frist generation Swedish-American, was the third child of four and the only son. The family lived at 312 Cincinnati Avenue in Biwabik Village, Saint Louis County, Minnesota. His father Charles was a miner in an iron mine.
Manford completed three-years of high school and by 1930 had left the family home and was lodging with four others at 964 Seventh Avenue in the 5th ward of Minneapolis. Manford was working in a foundry as a core maker. When he married Ethel Bodeman in 1936, they were both living in Hennepin County. The marriage took place in Minneapolis and was performed by John Alexander Dooley, a Nazarene Minister of the Gospel, before witnesses Rose Slitermen and Rev Hannah M Dooley. In 1940, Manford was renting at 914 Seventh Avenue South in ward 6 for $12/month. He was living alone and worked 42-hours the week-ending 30 March as a truck driver for a foundry. Manford's wife Ethel and their children were living at 1807 Elliot Avenue in the 5th ward. He and Ethel were later divorced. In 1939, Manford worked 52-weeks and earned wages of $1,100. He had no other income. Later Manford worked for the Olson Equipment Company in both Minneapolis and Duluth rising to the position of assistant manager.

Manford, 69, of 1801 West 1st St, Duluth, died at Saint Luke's hospital in Duluth, Minnesota on a Monday.
The informant of the death cert was his sister Margaret Widegren of 2814 West 2 Street in Duluth. Cause of death
was acute lymphatic leukemia (3-months). Manford's physician was K.W.Emanual (MD) of 4325 Grand in Duluth. He was survived by a son, daughter and three sisters Marie (David) Carlson, Miss Margaret and Myrtle (Fred) Lynn all of Duluth. The Fred Olson Mortuary of 2110 West 1st Street in Duluth was in charge. The funeral was held on Wednesday at the mortuary chapel with Rev Selmer T. Jacobsen officiating. Manford was buried with his parents.
