Biography* | Leslie M. Parrish, 1906-1984: Leslie was the sixth of seven children and had two older sisters. His parents, George and Cora, were both born in Indiana. Leslie grew up in Windall City, Tipton County. He completed one-year of high school and when 15-years-old, joined the U.S. Army on 26 June 1922 (must have lied about his age?). In 1935, Leslie was stationed at Schofield Barracks, Honolulu, Hawaii. When he was married in 1939, Leslie was a resident of Hennepin County, Minnesota (stationed at Fort Snelling?). The marriage was performed in Barry, Minnesota by Jon A Phelan, a Catholic priest. In 1940, Leslie was a Sargeant in the 21st Field Artillery, Fifth Division and was stationed at Fort Knox, Kentucky. In 1955, when his father-in-law died, he and Mary were living in Holland, Michigan. Leslie, 77, died on a Saturday. He was buried 18-days later. NOTE: Unusually long time betwen death and burial. Maybe he died somewhere else? Maybe he was buried someplace else and then moved? No obit has been found. |

Biography* | Emile Joseph Cerise, 1911-2003: Born in Paris, France, Emile lived in San Marcel, Italy and Montreal, Quebec before immigrating to the United States. Emile began working for the Minikahda Club in 1929 at the age of 18 and retired in 1968. In 1939, he worked 52-weeks and earned wages of $1,250. 1940, Emile and family lived in a $3,950 house they owned at 4051 Yosemite in St Louis Park. His first wife Lillian died in 1965 and in 1967 he married for a second time. Emile, 92, of Northfield, died on a Saturday. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Lillian; brother, Camille and a daughter- in-law. Emile was survived by his 2nd wife of 36 years, three children, a stepson, a stepdaughter, 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. A memorial service was held on Friday, the 18th of July, at Spirit of Life Presbyterian Church, 14401 Pilot Knob Road in Apple Valley. In lieu of flowers, memorials were preferred to the church, or Northfield Hospice. Cremation Society of Minnesota in Edina was in charge. |

Biography* | Rita Casey Boylan, 1913-1967: Rita was the third child of four with one younger brother. Her father Cornelius was a first generation Irish-Canadian-American born in Iowa. Her mother Hanorah was a first generation Irish-American also born in Iowa. In 1920 the family lived in a home they owned free of mortgage on Main Street in the 1st ward of Lansing in Alamakee County, Iowa. Rita's father Cornelius was proprietor of a meat market. She graduated from Immaculate Conception High School. In 1940, she, her husband John Boylan and their daughter rented at 713 Liberty Street in the seventh ward of Flint, Michigan for $35/month. She was a member of the Saint Matthew's Altar Society in Flint and was active in church affairs. Rita, 54, died of a coronary on a Friday at her mother's house. She had been in Lansing about two months assisting in household duties and the care of her aged mother. Rita was survived by her mother Hanorah, husband John, one daughter, a sister, Kathryn, Mrs. Harry Foster of San Francisco, California; four grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her father, an only brother and older sister. The funeral services were held Monday morning from Immaculate Conception Church with Rt. Rev. Msgr. Hintgen officiating. Casket bearers were Cyril Murphy, Al Hefty, James Powers, Francis Kilgariff and John Dunlevy. Among out of town relatives and friends attending the funeral services were Mrs. Bob Hartwig of Wausau, Wisconsin; Colleen Dunlevy of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Kitty Dunlevy of Madison, Wisconsin; Mrs. Joe Kilgariff and Cyril Murphy Jr. of LaCrosse, Wisconsin. |
