Biography* Edward A. Devlin, 1893-1961:
Born in Worcester to first-generation Irish-American parents born in Massachsetts, Edward lived there all his life. He was the second child of nine and the eldest son. In 1900, the family lived at 12 Bradley Street in Worcester's 4th ward and Edward's father Daniel worked as a machinist. By 1910 the family owned a mortgaged home at 53 Granite Street in the 6th ward. There were five-daughters and three-sons. One child of unknown sex had died before 1900. In 1917, when Edward registered for the WWI draft, he was described as being of medium height and build with gray eyes and light brown hair and his birth year was recorded as 1894. Edward was working as a conductor for the Worcester Consolidated Street Railway Company. He was ultimately drafted into that war. Afterwards, he was employed as a starter by the Worcester Bus Company where he worked for 44-years before retiring in March 1960. In 1930, Edward and wife Catherine were renting an apartment in a duplex at 88 Standish Street in Worcester's 4th ward for $27/month. By 1935, they were renting at 57 Houghton Street in the 4th ward for $32/month. In 1939, Edward worked all 52-weeks and earned $1,400 in wages. He worked 48-hours in the week-ending 30 March 1940. In 1942, at age 48, Edward registered for the WWII draft. His height was listed as 5-foot/8-inches and his weight as 154 pounds and his birth year was again recorded as 1894. Edward applied for Social Security Benefits on 25 January 1960. He was a member of the Saint Christopher's Guild and American Legion Post No. 5. At the time of his death in 1961, Edward resided at 10 Stearns Street.

Edward, 68, died on a Wednesday at Rutland Veterans Hospital. He was survived by his wife Catherine T Green and five sisters Miss Mary J and Miss Rose Devlin, Margaret (Henry) Crowley all of Worcester, Frances (Leonard) Anderson of West Boylston abd Eleanor (William) Gain of Jefferson. Edward was predeceased by his only son. The funeral was held on Saturday from the O'Connor Brothers funeral home, 592 Park Ave, followed by Solemn High Mass at Our Lady of the Angels.

Biography* Herbert Leo Maguire, 1901-1973:
When Herbert was born, the family was renting at 130 Cross Street in Lowell, Middlesex, Massachusetts. His parents were Hugh Maguire, a first generation Irish-American working as a foreman on a city labor crew, and Delia Grady, who was Irish born. The mother Delia died in 1902, when Herbert was 15-months old. Delia is buried in Lowell with her parents. Herbert's father Hugh died in 1906 and is buried with wife Delia. Herbert had four older sisters. The first born died at age three. The three remaining sisters would have been 10, 9 and 7 when the father died. Herbert was three weeks shy of five. What happened to the daughters after the father's death is not known but Herbert was adopted by Joseph Green and Margaret Leonard. Herbert did not change his surname from Maguire to Green. He used Leo as a middle name which may have been an acknowledgement of his connection to the Leonards. He lived with the Green's until his adoptive parents had both died. His adoptve mother Margaret (nee Leonard) Green died in 1834. In 1940, Herbert was living with his sister Margaret (nee Green) Brigham's family.

When he was a young man, Herbert worked as a sole-sorter in a shoe factory. Later, he worked for 29-years as a clerk for the Penn Central Railroad, retiring in 1969. Herbert was a veteran of World War II. He registered for the draft on 16 February 1942, at age 40, and on the 16th of October enlisted in the U.S.Army. When he registered Herbert was working for the Boston & Albany Railroad at a freight house on Franklin Street in Worcester5. He was a past president of Local 271, Brotherhood of Railway, Airline and Steamship Clerks and was a member of the Passionist Retreat League of Shrewsbury.

A resident of 11 Fairbanks Street, Herbert died in Sheraton House, 119 Providence Street, after a long illness. He died at age 71, three-weeks before his 72nd birthday. Herbert was survived by one brother, Edward Green; three sisters, Mrs Margaret J. Brigham (nee Green), Mrs Catherine T. Devlin (nee Green), and Mrs Helen B. St. Martin (nee Maguire), plus several nieces and nephews. His funeral was held from the James E. Fay funeral home, 9 Hammond Street, on Friday with mass at Ascension church, 48 Vernon Street.

Biography* Mary C. Farrell Green, 1898-1991:
Mary was the second of seven children and the eldest daughter. She had one sister. Both her parents were first generation Irish-Americans. Her father Thomas was a plumber and later worked in a tannery. The family rented an apartment in a triplex at 28 Mendon Street in Worcester's 4th ward. After two-years of high school, Mary entered and graduated from the Rutland State Sanatorium School of Nursing in Worcester. She began working at City Hospital as a nurse and rose to the level of a nursing supervisor. Eventually Mary became director of nurses at the Sanatorium. She was a registered nurse for 35-years and retired in 1963. Mary was a member of Christ the King parish, its social club, its Women's Guild, and the Diocesan Council of Catholic Nurses.

Formerly a resident of 27 Brantwood Road, Mary, 93, died in Salisbury Nursing Home, 25 Oriol Drive, on a Friday. She was survived by one sister, Elizabeth A. Chapman of Worcester, several nephews and nieces; grandnephews and grandnieces. She was predeceased by husband Edward in 1974. Mary's funeral was held from the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster Street, followed by a mass at Christ the King curch, 1052 Pleasant Street. Memorial donations solicited to Christ the King Church or Nazareth Home for Boys in, Leicester.

Biography* Marion C. Oswald Green, 1900-1939:
Marion was the youngest of 13-children. Her father Aolphus, a carpenter, was born in New York state, her mother Mary in Massachusetts. Both parents were first generation German-Americans. Marion grew up in a rented house at 23 Mulberry Street in the 4th ward of Worcester, Massachusetts. Her father Adolphus died in 1914 when she was thirteen. In 1923, Marion married Arthur Green who lived with his parents about a mile away at 19 Arthur Street. The marriage took place at their parish church Sacred Heart, 600 Chamber Street, and was performed by the Rev Patrick H. Boland. In 1930, she, husband Arthur, and children lived in a rented house at 51 Stoughton Street also in the 4th ward. Marion was a member of the Ladies' Auxiliary of the Homer Wheaton Post, VFW.

Marion, of 64 Arthur Street, died in City Hospital on a Tuesday at age 38. She was survived by her husband, five children ranging in age from three-to-sixteen, six sisters Mary C Weigert, Carrie D, (Dennis) Driscoll, Mrs Florence A Johnston, Theresa M. (John E.) Hedlud, Gerturde E, (Arthur E.) Place and Mrs Mildred C Comerford and an aunt Mrs Carrie B. Cook all of Worcester. The funeral was held on Thursday with a high mass at Saint Stephen's church.
