Biography* | Agnes Murphy Brennan, 1891-1973: The oldest of six children, Agnes was born in Wisconsin to a farmer father born in Pennsylvania and a mother born in Wisconsin. However, there are some inconsistencies in the record on the birthplaces of her ancestors. Her father, a first-generation Irish-American, may have been born in Maryland. Her mother was a first-generation German-American but Agnes' maternal grandmother may have been born in Switzerland. In 1900, the family was living in Luverne township, Rock County, Minnesota. By 1910, in Springwater township in the same county. And by 1920, she and husband Thomas were living in Riverdale township, Dickey County, North Dakota. Agnes's husband Thomas Brennan died in 1922. Circa 1924, Agnes married Joseph Slama. In 1930, they were living in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. In 1940, she and Joseph were renting at 70 4th Street North in Fargo City, Cass County, North Dakota for $12/month (there were 18-households listed at this address). Agnes was working in a housekeeping project. Agnes, 82, died on a Monday. There are discrepancies in our sources for both Agnes birth place and her death place athough the birth dates and death dates are consistent. |
