Death*1 Nov 1879 Knockaunnacurraha, Galbally, Limerick, Ireland; Witness=Patrick Noonan2
Biography* John Noonan, c1793-1879:
The only evidence we have of John's birth date is his 1879 death record which lists his age as 86. If this age is correct then John was 30-years senior to his wife Johanna Cronin and was 47-years-old when he married her in 1840. John went on to sire at least seven children, the last born in 1857 when he was 63! In the same year of his marriage, John signed a will lease for 8-acres of land in Knockaunnacurrah townland, Galbally civil parish. The rent was £1/1s per annum. Lord Massey was the lessor. The holding was described as lot 2A & 2B. There were 13-lots in the townland (lots 1, 3 & 4 were occupied by Tho's, Patrick and Hugh Cronin respectively).

John, 86, a married farmer, died on a Thursday in Knockanacurraha. He had suffered from debility for some time and was not attended by medical personnel. Informant was Patrick Noonan of the same townland )presumably John's son).

In 1880, David was boarding, along with three others, at his sister and brother-in-law - Bridget and Martin Williams - on their farm in Springwater township, Rock County, Minnesota. By 1900, he and his wife Catherine owned a mortgaged farm in the same township.

David, 55, died on a Tuesday of throat cancer. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Walsh, assisted by Rev. H. Dermedy of Flandreau, and Reverands Coyne and Martin of Dell Rapids, at St.Catherine's church on Wednesday. Attendance was very large and a long procession of mourners followed the remains to their resting place in the Catholic cemetery.

Biography* Daniel Noonan, 1852-1909:
Daniel's birth date listed in the 1900 census, March 1851, seems unlikely based upon his 27 June 1852 christening. In those days, Irish catholic parents would have had the child christened within a day or two of birth. If the recorded date of christening is correct it is almost certain that Daniel was born in June 1852. Daniel's christening sponsors were Thad Fitzgerald and Johanna Cronin (his mother?). The 1st record of Daniel in the U.S. was in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1880 when he married Nettie Johnson in July of that year. In 1885, Daniel and Nettie are resident in Minneapolis and by 1895 reside at 2226 19th Avenue South in the 11th ward. Daniel was employed for 10-months that year repairing cars. In 1900, they owned this house with mortgage and Daniel's occupation had not changed. In 1905, he was listed as a laborer.

The following account was excerpted from an article in the The Tacoma Daily News, dated 30 January 1909: Failing to heed the gong of the hose cart driven by J. W. Taylor, of 2536 South East Street, an in-bound Spanaway car, No 146, operated by Motorman Thorne Dahl and Conductor W. H. Ittman, crashed into the hose cart at South Twenty-Third street and Pacific Avenue this evening. The heavy cart overturned and Daniel Noonan, of 4820 South Washington street, who was standing on the rear steps of the wagon, was fatally hurt. Noonan's head was caught between the curb and the overturned wagon. His skull was fractured. He was hastened to Fannie Paddock hospital and died early that morning without regaining consciousness. The driver Taylor was also taken to the hospital, but was later removed to his home. Noonan, 57, had been in the Tacoma department as a relief man for about eight-months. A few months ago Noonan saved the life of Fireman George Gibbs while they were on the way to a fire. Gibbs was thrown from the wagon when one of the wheels struck a hole in the pavement. Directly behind, the heavy fire engine came thundering down upon the prostrate man. As the wagon passed over Gibbs, Noonan dropped from the rear of the wagon and hauled Gibbs to the side of the roadway, barely escaping the fire engine. Noonan was survived by his wife, three married daughters and a 17-year-old son, Daniel Jr., all of Minneapolis.

In 1903, about five-and-one-half-years earlier, Daniel and Nettie's son John, a member of the Minneapolis Fire Dept., was accidently killed in a similar accident in Minneapolis.6

Biography* Bridget Noonan Williams, 1841-1935:
There is almost nine years difference between the year of the christening record for Bridget (1841) and her birthyear as consistently reported during her years in the United States (1852). A yet to be resolved discrepancy. There may have been a second Bridget born after the one for which we have a record although her brother Daniel was also born in 1852 which suggests that if there was a second Bridget she was not born in 1852 anyway. John Dawson and Margaret Croneen were the christening sponsors in the record that we have.

Bridget immigrated to the U.S.A. in 1872. After her 1875 marriage, she and Martin homesteaded in Springwater township in Rock County, Minnesota. They retired from farming in 1895 and moved into the north ward of Luverne. Her husband Maretin died in 1931.

Bridget, 82, of North Cedar Street in Luverne, died at home on a Friday. It was her 83rd birthday and she had been in declining health for a year. Bridget's daughter Margaret Crowley of Chatfield was the informant on the death cert. Cause of death was interstitial pneumonia (few-days) and senile dementia (several-months). She was attended by physician C. L. Sherman of Luverne since 07 July 1934. Bridget was survived by the aforementioned daughter Mrs J. F. Crowley of Chatfield and sons Harry J. Williams of Adrain and Dr C. A. Williams of Pipestone. Four children preceded her in death: Nellie Grace, Francis Leo, John Martin and Mrs R. E. Kennedy. The funeral was held on Monday at Saint Catherine's Catholic church with the Rev P. E. Matthews officiating assisted by Rev Richard Barden of Ellsworth and Rev A. M. Gmeinder of Adrain. Pallbearers were James McKeon, Frank F. Michael, Charles Merrill, C. W. McDonald, Rudolph Hassler and P. J. Connell. Relatives and friends that attended from out-of-town included M/M H. Culver and Jean of Detroit Lakes, M/M H. Rice of Flandreau, M/M C. Scott of Iona and Mrs D. W. McCarthy and Waldo and M/M D. McLean of Sioux Falls. Undertaker F. C. Smith of Luverne was in charge.

From her Star Herald obit dated 8 Feb 1935: Mrs. Williams death severs another link in the chain of early-day residents who played an important part in the development of this section. Together, with her husband, she courageously endured the hardships common to homestead days, wielding a helpful, inspiring influence over all with whom she came in contact. Beloved by her children and friends alike, Mrs.Williams was accorded widespread esteem, to which she was fully entitled, and her life was constantly marked by the finest and most exemplary attributes of womanhood.
