Biography* Estella "Stella" Ryan O'Neil, 1901-1982:
The eldest of three, with a younger sister and younger brother, Stella was raised on farms in Lake County, South Dakota. In 1910, the family lived in Farmington township. In 1920, in Lake View township. In 1930, married and with a son, Stella and husband Charles rented a house, for $35.00/month, at 3733 24th Avenue in Minneapolis 12th ward. Stella worked as a food caterer. When Her husband Charles died in 1938 the family was liivng at 615 East 17th Street. In 1940, they were renting at 110 East 25th Street for $38/month. Later, Stella worked as a caterer.

Estella F "Stella" O'Neil, 80, of 219 W 47th Street, residing at Eagle Nursing Home, died on a Wednesday at Fairview Southdale hospital in Edina, Hennepin County. Cause of death was CVA-left (on Sunday the 15th), prior hypertension and mild diabetes (2-years). Stella was attended by physician Peter J Schultz (MD) of 325 Southdale Medical Building. She was survived by one daughter, one son, three grandchildren, a brother Nick Ryan, a brother-in-law Ray Castelberg, many nieces and nephews. The funeral was held on Saturday at the Church of Visitation. White Funeral Home was in charge. Memorials to Our Lady of Good Counsel Cancer Home preferred.

Biography* Anna I. Ryan Castelberg, 1905-1977:
The middle child of three and the second girl, Anna was raised on farms in Lake County, South Dakota. In 1910, the family was farming in Farmington township. In 1920, in Lake View township. By 1930, Anna had moved to 3115 Russell in Minneapolis 10th ward with her parents and was working as a bookeeper in a bank. In 1937 Anna married Raymond Castelberg, both residents of Minneapolis, in a civil ceremony in Sioux Falls, Minnehaha County, South Dakota. Anna was a bookkeeper for the Jewel Coal Company. In 1939, she had wages of $1,200 and had no other income. In 1940, Anna and Raymond were living at 631 East 17th Street in the 5th ward. Her mother, Emma Ryan, was living with them. Anna worked 40-hours in the last week of March. By 1941, she and Raymond lived at 3329 47th Avenue South. And by 1952, Anna had been promoted to credit manager at the coal company.

Anna I. Castelberg, 71, of 3329 47th Avenue South, Minneapolis, died at home on a Wednesday. Her husband Raymond was informant on the death cert. Cause of death was myocardial infarct (4-hours). Anna was attended by physician Frank S Preston of 2431 Riverside Avenue South. She was survived by husband Raymond E, sister Stella O'Neil, brother Nick Ryan, one niece and three nephews. The funeral was held on Friday at Saint Albert the Great Catholic church. White Funeral Home of 2730 Hennepin was in charge. Memorials to the Cancer Fund were preferred.

NOTE: Anna's death cert and obit listed her address as 3325 47th Avenue South. Since she and Raymond had lived next door at 3329 for a number of years, have assumed that the address in the death cert and obit were incorrect.

Biography* Nicholas Michael Ryan, 1918-1983:
The third of three children and the only son, Nicholas spent his early years on a farm in Lake View township, Lake County, South Dakota. By 1930, at age 12, he and his parents were living at 3115 Russell in Minneapolis 10th ward. Nicholas completed two-years of high school. In 1940, married and with two sons, he rented half of a duplex at 325 19th Avenue South in the 6th ward. He worked as an independent truck driver for Jim Dudley. In 1939, he worked 48-weeks, received no wages but had other income. Nicholas registered for the World War II draft in October of 1940. He was described as 5'-10" in height, weighed 180 pounds, had blue eyes and black hair. Nicholas enlisted in the U.S.Navy 24 April 1944 and was relesaed on 03 April 1946. After his return to civilian life he worked as a bus driver and was later divorced.

Nicholas Michael Ryan, 65, of 3332 Nicollet Avenue South, Apt. 101, Minneapolis, was found dead at home on Thursday 27 January 1983. Cause of death was arteriosclerotic heart disease. His death was certified by coroner John I. Coe, M.E. (MD) of 730 South Seventh Street, Minneapolis. No autopsy was performed. Nicholas was survived by two sons, eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. The funeral was held on Monday at the funeral home. There was a private burial with no viewing and no visitation. White Funeral Home of 2730 Hennepin Avenue was in charge.

Biography* Nettie Gephart Ryan Danberg, 1917-1994:
Nettie was the youngest child of at least thirteen children. Her father Charles, a farmer, was married twice. First to Florence Riggs in 1885 by whom he had a least two-sons and second to Cora Roudebush in 1901. Cora had also been married before to John Ormsby in 1893 by whom she had at least two-children - one son and one daughter. Charles and Cora had another nine-children of their own. The oldest seven chidlren were born in Indiana. The six youngest in Iowa. In 1910 the family was renting a farm in Ell township, Hancock County, Iowa. By 1920 they were renting a farm in Crystal township. By 1925 they had moved to Minnesota and in 1930 were renting half of a duplex at 1311 Second Street South in the 6th ward of Minnesapolis for $10/month. The father Charles, at age 74, was working as a laborer at Pure Oil Company. In 1940, Nettie and husband Nicholas Ryan and their two sons were renting half a duplex at 325 19th Avenue South also in the 6th ward of Minneapolis. Nettie was working as a toy airplane finisher in a steel factory. Nettie soon was divorced from Nicholas Ryan and in 1948 she married Lloyd M. Danberg.

Nettie, 77, died in Chisago County on a Saturday. She is buried with her second husband.
