Biography* | Alice Coleman King, 1898-1960: Alice grew up at 248 Robinson in Hudson's second ward. She was employed for many years as a stenographer at the Universal Atlas Cement Company. Alice, about 61, died suddenly on a Thursday at her residence, 4 Union Turnpike in Hudson. She was survived by her husband. Funeral services, arranged by McDonald's Funeral Home, were held on Monday from her late residence and then from Saint Mary's. |

Biography* | Leo Andrew Heeney, 1894-1952: Leo was a first generation Irish-American, born in New York to a father born in New York and a mother born in Ireland. In 1900 the family lived in Stockport, Columbia County, New York. They owned the house with mortgage and the father Andrew worked as a house painter. Five of six children born to Leo's parents were living and four of them were with the family. Leo was the youngest of the four living at home and the second son. Married in 1925, Leo was widowed shortly after his son was born in that year. By 1930, he owned a $22,500 house on the road to Rossmans in Stockport township. Leo's widowed mother was living with him and his 4-year-old son and he was working as painter at a woolen mill. |

Biography* | Virginia Grossman Martin, ca1911-1973: In 1910, Virginia's future family (she hadn't been born yet) was renting at 13 Warren Street in the 1st ward of Hudson in Columbia County, New York. Her future father was listed as "Joseph", a first generation German-American and proprietor of a fruit store. "Joseph's" wife Mary had been previously married and had three children by that marriage surnamed Klebes. The three Klebes children lived with "Joseph" and Mary as step-children in addition to one son of their own. In 1920, the family was renting half of a duplex at 7 Fairview Avenue in the 5th ward. Virginia's father was now listed as Edward and was driving a truck. Virginia''s mother Mary was not listed and neither were any of the Klebes children. In 1930, Virginia, listed as "Bridget M", was living with her father Edward and younger brother Leo at 709 Warren Street in the 3rd ward. The father was driving a truck for a moving company. In 1940, Virginia and her husband John Paul Martin were renting at 29 Grove Avenue in the 18th ward of Albany, New York. Later, Virginia worked as a registered nurse. Virginia died on a Saturday at Albany Medical Center Hospital. She was survived by her husband John P of New City, New York, one son, brothers Edward T Grossman II of Kingston, New York and Leo B Grossman of Arlington, Texas and sisters Mrs Herbert Raab of Kingston, New York and Mrs Ronald McIntyre of Copake, New York. The funeral was held on Tuesday at Saint Mary's Catholic church in Hudson. McDonald's Funeral Home was in charge. |

Biography* | Duane Adriance, 1911-1972: In 1920, Duane is the oldest of four sons. His father's given name is unknown and may be deceased. Duanes' mother Lydia has been remarried to George R Sweet with whom she has a two-month-old daughter. The family is living on Middle Road in Greenport township of Columbia County, New York and Duane's step-father is working as a farm laborer. In 1930, Duane himself is working as a farm laborer. The family is living in Clermont township. In 1940, Duane is a lodger at the Plaza Hotel on Warren Street in Hudson's 4th ward. There are nine other lodgers plus a manager living there also. Duane has been living in Hudson since 1935, has a 5th grade education and is working as a short-order cook in a restaurant. In 1939, he worked for 32-weeks and earned $512. According to the Social Security Death Index George died in December of 1972 at age 61. Nothing more has been learned. |
