Biography* | William C. White, 1885-1919: In 1900, William was living with his parents in Chatham, Columbia County, New York. For a number of years he worked for C. A. Van Duesen Company of Hudson. By 1910, William was living at 518 Washington Street in Hudson's 5th ward and working as the local manager for New York Telephone Company. For a few years he lived in East Chatham and worked for the highway department of Chatham Town. William belonged to Hudson Lodge No.7, F&AM William, 33, died at home near East Chatham early Sunday of pneumonia following influenza. He was survived by his wife, formerly Ethel Downing, three children, his parents and one sister. The funeral was held on Wednesday. |

Biography* | Mary Kane Sullivan, 1865-1929: A first generation Irish-American, Mary's family lived in Ghent, Columbia County, New York in 1870. She also had a younger brother. Mary's father Patrick was an illiterate farmer, declared $1,800 of real estate, $300 of personal estate and was a U.S. citizen. By 1907 Mary and husband lived at 330 State Street in Hudson's fourth ward. She had two children, one of whom died in infancy Mary, 63, died at her home early on a Friday after an illness of about two months. She was survived by one daughter, two sisters, and one brother. Funeral services were held on Monday from her residence and then from Saint Mary's. Six nephews acted as pallbearers: George Kane, Raymond Kane, Matthew Colwell, Harold Colwell, Earl Colwell, and Paul Colwell. |

Biography* | Margaret Sullivan Smith, 1893-1966: Born in Columbia County, New York, Margaret moved to Bridgeport in Fairfield County, Connecticut circa 1927 where she was employed by the General Electric Company (GE). At GE, Margaret worked in department 23C of the fan motor section (Section A). By 1929, she had risen to forewoman. Margaret lived at 643 Boston Avenue when she arrived in Bridgeport and a year later moved to 89 Beecher. In 1929, she married Edward J. Smith, also a foreman at GE, and moved to 164 Wood Avenue in Stratford. In 1935, the couple moved to 174 Wood Avenue. Margaret, 73, died on a Saturday at Saint Vincent's Hospital in Bridgeport. She was survived by one son, one step-son, and one step-granddaughter. Her funeral was held on Monday from the William R. McDonald Funeral Home in Stratford and then from Saint James Church. She was buried, beside her husband, in the cemetery next to the Methodist church. There is no tombstone. Her only son Edward is buried next to them - also without a stone. |

Biography* | Anna Conroy Brown, 1866-1946: Anna's father died when she was very young and her widowed mother married Patrick McCarthy. According to family lore, Anna had a step-sister (actually a sister. Mary or Mame was two years older than Anna and must have been a Conroy) Mame whose first husband was a Silk and whose second husband was a McGee. She may have had an aunt Mary that lived with her. She also had a step-brother William McCarthy who lived in Pittsfield. After Anna's husband John died in 1911, Anna continued to live for a time at the 24 Warren Street address in Hudson. In 1920, she was living at 251 Warren Street in Hudson's first ward. And by 1925, at 520 Washington in Hudson's fifth ward with her son-in-law and daughter, George and Katherine Young. Circa 1944, she moved with her daughter to 213 Regent Road in Norfolk, Virginia. Anna, 80, died on a Tuesday at the home of her daughter. She was survived by the daughter Katherine Young, one son J. Lyle Brown of Albany, sister Mary McCarthy and brother William McCarthy both of Pittsfield. Her funeral was arranged by H. D. Oliver, Norfolk, Virginia. |

Biography* | James Lyle Brown, 1892-1973: Known sometimes as James, sometimes as Lyle, he lived with his parents at 226½ Warren Street in Hudson's 2nd ward in 1900 and attended school. In 1910, he was with his parents at 24 Warren Street and was apprenticed to a plumber. In 1920, living with his sister and brother-in-law at 251 Warren Street in the 1st ward, James Lyle was working as a machinist in a knitting mill. In 1930, he was still living with his sister and brother-in-law now at 520 Washington Street in the 5th ward, and working as a retail merchant in a fish market. Sometime after, he moved to Albany and at one time lived at the Convent of Mercy there. James Lyle, age 81, died on a Thursday. He was survived by one sister, Kathryn Young of Schnectady, one niece and one nephew. Funeral services were held on Saturday from the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderburg Ave, Schenectady and then to Saint Paul the Apostle. Memorials to Sisters of the Poor Building Fund suggested. |

Her given name appears in four places on her civil marriage record and in all four it is spelled with a "C" including the transcription of her signature. Later in life she used the Katherine spelling5. In her Social Security record her name is spelled Kathryn. Katherine worked as a dressmaker. Before her marriage, Katherine lived at 24 Warren in Hudson's second ward. After her marriage she lived at 251 Warren also in the second ward. By 1925, she lived at 520 Washington Street, Hudson. At one time, the household at 520 Washington consisted of grandmother Anna Conroy Brown, uncle James Brown, aunt Margaret Brown, mother Katherine Brown and father George Young plus three children Margaret, George, and Catherine Young. Circa 1933, the family moved to Albany, New York and circa 1944, to Norfolk, Virginia. After her husband's death in 1956, Katherine moved to Schenectady, New York. |

Biography* | Mary Shea Martin, 1866-1955 Born in Ireland, Mary immigrated to the USA circa 1880. In 1920, Mary was listed as head of household at 82 North Third Street in the 4th ward of Hudson, Columbia County, New York. The house which she owned free of mortgage was a duplex. One apartment was occupied by her sister-in-law Margaret (nee Martin) King, two of Margaret King's children and Mary Martin's brother-in-law Daniel Martin. The second apartment was occupied by Mary herself, her husband John and three of her children Mary, Evelyn and John. In 1930 Mary was living with her husband and two of her children in a rental at 304 State Street (a duplex) in the 4th ward. In 1940, she and her husband and one daughter were renting at 358 Warren Street (a four-plex) for $35/month. Mary, 89, died on a Friday. |
