Biography* | Martha Sara Mulcahy Hein, 1913-1990: Born in Clifton, Wisconsin, Martha was the lone surviving child, an older brother having died at birth. In 1920, she and her parents were living in Roxbury township, Dane County. Martha completed two-years of high school. In 1940, married and with children of her own, Martha's family was living on Military Street in Dane Village. Later she became a resident of Monona at 4913 Shore Acres Road. Martha was a member of the Eagles Club and the Monona Senior Citizens. Martha died on a Tuesday at a local hospital. She was 76. Martha was survived by one daughter, four sons, seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Martin and one daughter. Funeral services were held on Saturday from at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic church with Rev. Kent Schmitt, a nephew, and Rev. Robert Gille officiating. |

Biography* | Martin R. Hein, 1908-1975: Martin was one of four children adopted by the Heins who were German-born farmers in Dane township, Dane County, Wisconsin. He completed four-years of high school. In 1939, Martin was the postmaster in Dane Village. He worked 52-weeks that year and earned $1,000. In 1940, Martin owned a $2,000 house on Military Street in the village. He worked 60-hours the week-ending 31 March. Later Martin was an electrician at a meat packing company. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and at one time was the postmaster of Dane, Wisconsin. Martin, 67, of 4913 Shore Acres Road in Monona, Dane County, died on a Tuesday at a Madison hospital. He was survived by his wife Martha, four sons, one daughter, two brothers, two sisters and five grandchildren. The funeral was held on Friday from Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic church. Monsignor Edward Bier, Rev. Bruce Hennington and Rev. Kent Schmidt officiated. |
