Biography*1982 John J. O'Brien, 1889-1981:
John's christening sponsors were Miss? Callahan and Mrs Ellen Flynn (his mother's sister-in-law Ellen Frawley Flynn? and therefore John's aunt?). Born at 836 Brooklyn Street by 1891, the family lived at 2904 12th Street in St Louis 3rd ward. In 1900, John was in school. In 1910, he was employed as a wood worker in a factory. In 1917, when he registered for the WWI draft, John was married with child and living at 3800 Labadie, St Louis. He was a tall man of slender build with brown eyes and black hair. He worked as a machinist for Seston Manufacturing Company at 2900 Clark. In 1920, the family was renting at 911 Montgomery Street in the 3rd ward. John was working as a die maker in a tool factory. In 1930, they were renting at 724 Ashberry Street, Greenville, Bond County, Illinois for $30/month. John was working as a mechanic at a spark plug factory. Sometime later he lived in Arizona.

John died on a Monday at age 91. He was a resident of Mountain Home, Baxter County, Arkansas.

Biography* Ellen O'Brien Pohlmann, 1891-1935:
Born at 2904 N. 12th Street in St. Louis 3rd ward, Ellen was christened by the Rev. Naz Orfei and sponsored by John Beagle and her aunt Katherine O'Brien. She was married at 18 years of age to John Pohlmann by Asst Pastor D. J. Ryan with her brother Michael O'Brien and Helen Torey as witnesses. In 1910, she and her husband were living with her mother at the 12th street address. By 1920, they were renting at 4267 North 20th Street in the 1st ward. And in 1930, Ellen and John were renting 3800 Lee Avenue in the 21st ward for $75/month.

Ellen, a resident of 3620a St Louis Avenue, died on a Friday at St. John's Hospital. She was 41. Cause of death was uterine cancer. Ellen's physician was Dr. Fred Kramer, 634 North Grand. She was survived by her husband, daughter, mother, four brothers, and others. Ellen's funeral was held on Tuesday from St. Teresa's Church. Cullinane Bros Funeral Parlor, 1710 North Grand Blvd, was in charge. She was buried in a Flynn plot with her baby brother Thomas.

Biography* Martin P. O'Brien, 1896-1965:
Born at 2904 North 12th Street in the 3rd ward, Martin's christening sponsors were his uncle John Flynn and his first cousin Julia Begley. By the time he registered for the WWI draft in 1918, Martin and his widowed mother were living at 2900 North 12th Street. He had apparently been layed-off from his job because under employment he had entered - "expects to go back to work at Wagus Blair Co., 2017 Locust, St Louis". Martin, who was now using the name Martin J., was of medium height and build with gray eyes and brown hair. He was inducted into the U.S. Army on 03 September 1918 with the rank of Private (Pvt) and assigned to the 57 DEP BRIG (57th Depot Brigade?) until discharge. In 1920, Martin is living with his mother and is employed as a chauffeur in an auto repair shop. Sometime after this he was married for the first time. This first wife, Harriet Soete, died in 1927. In 1930, he and his mother have moved to 2820 22nd Street in the 18th ward. Martin is working as a chauffeur for an ice & fuel company. Martin married for the 2nd time sometime later to Anna Van Greenen. He was employed by the Stix-Baer and Fuller Company when he retired.

Martin, a resident of 2833 North Fourteenth, died on a Thursday at age 69. He was survived by two brothers Michael and John O'Brien and a stepson Samuel Overlease. He was predeceased by his 2nd wife. Martin's funeral was held on Tuesday from the Robert D Kinealy Mortuary, 2228 St Louis.

Born at 2904 North 12th Street in the 3rd ward, Robert's godfather at his christening was Martin J. O'Brien of no known relation. Lizzie Begley, Robert's 1st cousin, was his godmother. In 1919, Robert, with wife and son, are renting at 1441 St Louis Avenue in St. Louis 3rd ward, the same address as his wife's parents. In 1938, he was a self-employed limousine chauffeur.

Robert, a resident of 2904 Hadley Street, died on a Tuesday at City Hospital, St. Louis 20-days after his 39th birthday. Cause of death was pulmonary hemorrhage, pulmonary tuberculosis. Robert's attending physician was Dr. Joseph M. Quinn, Deputy Coroner. Robert was survived by his wife, son, mother, three brothers, and others. His funeral was held on Friday from St Michael's church. Edw. F. Howard & Sons Funeral Parlor, 4212 St Louis Avenue was in charge.

By 1920, the couple is renting at 4267 North 20th Street in the 1st ward and John is working as a salesman at a grocery. By 1930, they are renting at 3800 Lee Avenue in the 21st ward for $75/month. John is now a proprietor of a grocery store. His wife Ellen died in 1935 and nothing more is known about him.
