In 1930, she and her two sons were renting, for $27/month, at 928 Orange Street in Redlands. She was working as a bookkeeper at a dairy. By 1941, Alyda was back in East Highlands. |

Biography* | Joel S. Troyer 1858-1938: Born in Ohio, Joel's father was born in Pennsylvania. Joel was a resident of Saltcreek township, Holmes County, Ohio in 1860. Of Harrison township, Miami County, Indiana in 1870. Joel's wife Elise Gerber died in 1894. By 1900, he was no longer caring for his two sons. In 1901 he married Lophemia Matson and by 1910 was living in Sheridan township, Garfield County, Oklahoma and working as a carpenter. In 1920, Joel, his 2nd wife and their three daughters were living in Anderson township, McDonald County, Missouri. By 1930, he was back in Oklahoma living in Yale, Payne County. Joel kept in touch with his two sons by Elise Gerber during this period. In 1918, his son John listed Joel as his nearest relative and knew where his father was living. |

Biography* | Margaret Jones Gerber, 1852-1935: Born near Utica, New York, of parents born in Wales, Margaret moved to Richland, Wisconsin with her parents when she was about 16-years-of-age. She came to Lincoln County in 1888, where she operated a hotel in Worthing. After her marriage, she and husband Robert lived on the Henry G. Gerber farm east of town. In 1897, they moved onto a farm south of town. They retired in 1921 and moved into Worthing. Two years after her husband died, Margaret moved back onto the home farm with her daughter and son-in-law. Margaret died at home on a Sunday at age 83. She was survived by her daughter, three sisters, and three brothers. Funeral services were held on Wednesday from the home and from the Congregational church with the Rev. J. J. Stimpke of Worthing and the Rev. Wm. S. Harper of Beresford officiating. |
