Biography* | Anna Keenan Conerty, 1888-1959: Anna, a first generation Irish-American, was the second child of four, all born in Illinois, and the second of two daughters. She completed the 8th grade in school. In 1900, Anna's father was deceased and her mother Elizabeth, who immigrated in 1885, was working as a washerwoman. They owned their home free of mortgage in Chemung township, McHenry County, Illinois. In 1910, Anna was working as a saleslady in a paint and oils store. Married in 1912 to Frank Conerty, by 1920 the family was renting at 4036 North Redvale Avenue in the 27th ward in Chicago, Illinois. By 1930, they had moved back to McHenry County and owned a $6,000 house at 103 West Burbank Street in the 3rd ward of Harvard. Anna's husband Frank worked as a conductor on the railroad. She was a member of Saint Joseph's Catholic church, its Altar and Rosary Society, the Daughter's of Isabella (the female auxiliary of the Knights-of-Columbus), the O.I.C. club of Harvard and the Royal Neighbors club of which she was an officer in 1952. Anna, 71, of 102 West McKinley Street in Harvard, died at home on a Saturday. She was survived by daughter Mrs Robert Croak of Woodstock, son Francis of Harvard, eight-grandchildren, one-great-grandchild and sister Mrs Elizabeth Ingram of Arcadia, California. The funeral was held on Monday at Saint Joseph's with the pastor Rev Joseph Healy officiating. Schutt, McFarlin and Saunders Funeral Home was in charge. Her estate of $12,000 was left to daughter Darlene Croak, son Francis and a grand-daughter in Brea, California. |

Biography* | Francis S Conerty, 1916-1976: In 1920, was living at 4036 North Redvale Ave in Chicago's 27th ward. In 1930, with his parents at 103 West Burbank Street in Harvard's 3rd ward. Francis completed one-year of college. By 1940, he was working as a stenographer for a steam railroad. According to his obit, Francis was the Assistant Supervisor of car service for the Chicago and Northwestern Railway for 38 years. He was a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church, Harvard Moose Lodge, and Harvard Knights of Columbus. A resident of 805 North Division Street, Harvard, Illinois, Francis died at Harvard Memorial Hospital eight days befoe his 60th birthday. He was survived by his wife, four of his five children, six grandchildren and a sister Mrs Darlene Craok of Woodstock. A funeral mass was celebrated at Saint Joseph by Monsignor Joseph T. Healey. |

Biography* | Merilynn Douglas Conerty, 1919-2006: The oldest of four, Merilynn had one brother. Raised in Dunham township, in 1940 she was living at home and working as a stengographer for Stahl Insurance. Merilynn's father Lester was a feed and coal dealer. In 1939, Merilynn worked 51-weeks and earned $765.00. She worked for Stahl Insurance for many years and also for Shearon Petroleum. Merilynn was a member of Saint Joseph's Catholic church in Harvard and of its Mother's Club and its Altar and Rosary Society. She also was a member and at one time president of the Harvard Hospital Auxilliary and a member of the Harvard Business and Professional Women's Club. Merilynn at one time was a hospital Pink Lady and secretary of the Dunham-Chemung Cemetery Association. Merilynn, 87, died on a Sunday at Mercy Harvard Care Center. She was survived by four children, eight-grandchildren, 16-great-grandchildren and a sister Beverly Strain of Belvidere. Merilynn was preceded by her parents, husband, one son, brother William Douglas and sister Carol Douglas Meyer. The funeral was held on Friday at Saint Joseph's Catholic church, 206 East Front Street, Harvard. Memorials to Saint Joseph church or school were suggested. Saunders & McFarlin Funeral Home, 107 West Sumner Street, Harvard was in charge. |
