Biography* John Patrick Corcoran, 1917-1998:
John was the fifth of eight children and the third of five sons. He grew up Hatdland township, McHenry County, Illinois. When his father died in 1939, John was living in Osh Kosh, Wisconsin. In 1942, durig World War II, he was in the United States Army, along with three of his brothers. John's mailing address was APO, San Francisco, California. He retired in 1980 as a plant surpervisor at Salerno-Megowen Biscuit Company.

John, 81 of North Park Village, on the northwest side of Chicago, died on a Monday. He was survived by two-brothers Francis (Dorothy) and Thomas (Ruth), two-sisters Mary Netzel and Maragret Lazzara and friend Mathilde Silberstein. John was preceded by two brothers-in-law Ben Netzel and Sam Lazzara. The funeral was held on Saturday 18 Apr at Immaculta Conception church in Chicago. Kolbus Funeral Home of 6841-57 West Higgins Avenue, in Chicago was in charge.

Biography* Fancis X Corcoran, 1922-2000:
Francis was the seventh of eight children and the fourth of five sons. Both of his parents had died by 1939 and in 1940 Francis was living with his sister Mary and her husband Ben Netzel at 102 West Wood Street in Palatine Village in Cook County, Illinois. Francis had been unemployed for four months up until 31 March 1940 and was seeking work. In 1939, he worked for 39-weeks as a chaueffer for a doctor and earned $390. Francis also had other income. By 1942 he was in the U.S.Army, along with three of his brothers, and his mailing address was APO, New York. He had the rank of PFC (Private First Class) and spent two-years in the China-Burma-India theater. After the war he lived in Woodstock and in later years wintered in Mesa, Arizona. He worked for the Chicago & North Western railroad as a locomotive engineer retiring in 1982. Francis was a member of Saint Mary Catholic Church in Woodstock. He was a memberand past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council 776. Francis was also active in the Elks (BPOE - Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks), the Moose Lodge (Loyal Order of Moose), VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) and American Legion.

Francis, 78, died on a Sunday at Sherman hospiyal in Elgin, Kane County, Illinois. He was survived by his wife Dorothie, three-children, six-grandchildren, a great-grandchild, two-sisters Mary Netzel and Margaret Lazzara and a brother Tom (Ruth) Corcoran. Francis was preceded by his parents, brother John, brother & sister-in-law Joseph and Mariam Corcoran and two-brothers-in-law Ben Netzel and Sam Lazzara. The funeral was held on Thursday at Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Woodstock with the Rev Jim McLoughlin officiating. There was a private burial. Memorials to the Saint Joseph Center Building Fund of Saint Mary's or the Salvation Army were suggested. Schneider-Leucht-Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, 1211 North Seminary Avenue, Woodstock was in charge.

Biography* Thomas J. Corcoran, 1924-2011:
The youngest of eight and the fifth son, Thomas spent his childhood in Woodstock, Illinois. In 1930, the family was renting at 208 Main Street and his father John was working as a book salesman. In 1940, Thomas and his brother Francis were living with their sister Mary and her husband Ben Netzel at 102 West Wood Street in Palatine Village, Cook County, Illinois. Thomas was a student. Circa 1942, Thomas and three of his brothers were in the U.S.Army. Thomas was stationed at Camp Gordon, Georgia. He served in World War II in the European Theatre. After the war, he was a locomotive engineer (train driver) with the C&NWRR (Chicago and Northwestern RailRoad) out of Chicago. After His 1947 marriage in Palatine, Illinois, he and his wife Ruth continued to live in Palatine. Thomas retired in 1986. Circa 2005, Thomas and his wife Ruth moved to Providence, Rhode Island.

Thomas, 86, died on a Thursday at the Phillip Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence, Rhode Island after a six-week series of illnesses and surgeries. He was survived by two children, six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Ruth, three brothers, two sisters and an infant son stillborn in 1949. Thomas was cremated in Rhode Island and buried with his wife Ruth. A memorial service was held in Palatine in the summer of 2011. "He was generous, kind and very loved ... we will miss you ... your family."

Benjamin's parents were first generation German-American farmers. In 1900, they lived in Decatur township of Green County, Wisconsin. Circa 1907 they moved to McHeny County, Illinois and in 1910 were lving in McHenry township. By1920 they were living at 435 East Lake Street, in a house they owned with mortgage, in Woodstock's 4th ward. The father Charles was now working on the railroad. In 1930 the house was valued at $2,500. Ben was the third child of nine and the second of four sons. He was an employee of the Chicago & North Western railroad for many years eventually rising to section foreman. Ben was a member of Woodstock Moose Lodge.

Benjamin, 60, of 620 Brown St, Woodstock died Sunday at Memorial Hospital for McHenry County [Was this hospital in Woodstock??]. He was survived by wife Mary, a daughter, a granddaughter, brothers Arthur of Palatine and James of Barrington, sisters Mrs Mabel Anderson of Riverdale, Mrs Frankie Fox of Oxnard, California, Mrs Esther Conway of Chicago and Mrs Dorothy Martin of Woodstock. Ben was preceded by his parents and a sister. Services were held on Wednesday at the funeral home. Schneider-Leucht Funeral Home was in charge.

Andrew, who became a U.S. citizen in 1895, was not listed with his parents in 1900. His parents were living in Grafton township, McHenry County, Illinois. In 1920, Andrew was farming in Greenwood Township.In 1930, he owned a $7,500 house at 321 Washington Street in Woodstock's 3rd ward and was working as an automobile salesman. Later, he was a partner in the Steffensen and White Auto Agency in Woodstock. And still later operated Steffensen Standard Service for many years until retiring in 1948. After retirement Andrew was employed for a short time at the Rose Farm. He was a member of the Men's Garden Club in Woodstock for many years.

Andrew, formerly of 510 Dean Street in Woodstock, died on a Monday at the Florence Nursing Home in Marengo. He was 88. Andrew was survived by his wife, grandson, granddaughter, five great-grandchildren, one brother, and three sisters. He was preceded in death by a daughter, three brothers, and two sisters. The funeral was held on Wednesday at St Mary's Catholic church and officiated by the Rev. William I. Joffe. Arrangements were made by Schneider, Leucht, Merwin, and Cooney.

Not sure of James middle name or even initial. In 1930 he's listed as James A., in 1940 as James R and 1990 as James P. He was the eldest of four with one younger brother. In 1920, James' father Alphonse was working as an assembler at a local typewriter company and the family lived on Dean Street in Woodstock's 4th ward. Later the family moved to Chicago but when his father died in 1929, the family returned to live on Dean Street in Woodstock. In 1939, James worked 52-weeks as a rose grower on a rose farm. He earned $936 in wages. When James' mother Adaline died in 1980, he was living in Chicago.

James, 73, died on a Wednesday, 12-days before his 74th birthday.

The youngest child of four and the second daughter, Lorraine was 16-months-old when her father died in 1929. By 1930, the family had left Chicago and returned to Woodstock where she grew up. Lorraine graduated from Saint Mary's High School. When she was married in 1947, Lorraine was employed at the Woodstock Typewriter Company as was her husband Richard. Later, they were both employed for many years at Woodstock Die Cast Company. Lorraine was a member of Saint Mary Catholic church and the Women of the Moose.

Lorraine, 79, died on a Sunday at Memorial Medical Center in Woodstock. She was survived by four-daughters, five-grandchildren and six-great-grandchuildren. Lorraine was preceded by her parents, her husband Richard, a grand-daughter, a great-grand-daughter, two-brothers James and Vince and a sister Adaline. The funeral was held on Thursday at Saint Mary's, 312 Lincoln Avenue. The burial was private. Schneider-Leucht-Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, 1211 North Seminary Avenue was in charge.

Biography* Adaline Quinlan Wood Wallis, 1925-2002:
Adaline was the third of four children and the eldest of two daughters. Her father died when she was four-years-old. Adaline grew up in a rented house at 709 Dean Street in Woodstock's 4th ward. She married twice and survived both husbands. Sometime after Adaline's second marriage to Edward Wallis in June 1975 they moved to Edgewater, Colorado outside of Denver. Edward Wallis died in 1994 and Adaline eventually moved back to Woodstock.

Adaline, 77, died on a Wednesday at Hearthstone Manor in Woodstock. She was survived by one son, three daughters, one sister Lorraine Slinde of Woodstock, twelve grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Adaline was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, brothers Vincent and James and brother-in-law Richard A Slinde. The funerral was held a week later on the 21st at Saint Mary's Catholic church. Memorials to Hearthstone Manor were suggested. Schneider-Leucht-Merwin-Cooney Funeral Home was in charge.

Edward was the third of four children and the second of three sons. His father Archie was working as a farm laborer. In 1930, the family was living in Fremont township of Lake County. Father Archie was working as a laborer on a private estate. In 1940, the Wallis family lived in Warrren township. Edward, single and with a high school education was working as a mechanic in a garage. In 1939, he worked 52-weeks and earned wages of $1,200. Edward married twice. First to Vera Matthews of Cary in 1940. He served in the U.S. Navy's Air Corp during World War II. Edward was a member of the Cary Volunteer Fire Department for many years. He was also active in the American Legion in Cary. Edward's first wife died in 1973. And in 1977 he married the widow Adaline Wood of Woodstock. Sometime later, they moved to Edgewater, Colorado where Edward continued to be active in the American Legion.

Edward died on a Wednesday at age 78. He was survived by his wife, daughter, three step-children, two grandchildren, 10 step-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren, a sister, and a brother. He was preceded in death by a brother. A memorial service was held on Wednesday at the Windridge cemetery. Contributions were requested to the Edgewater Fire Department.

Biography*1999 Richard A. Slinde, 1927-1998:
Richard was one of three sons born in Wisconsin to Gerhardt Slinde and Helen Nelson both first generation Norwegian-Americans also born in Wisconsin. By the time Richard was eight-years-old the family had moved to Woodstock in McHenry County, Illinois. In 1940 they were renting at 360 Lincoln Avenue in the 3rd ward. His father Gerhardt was working as a toolmaker for a die casting manufacturing company. Richard graduated from Woodstock Community High School and served in the U. S. Army during World War II. When he married in 1947, Richard was working at the Woodstock Typewriter Company as was his wife. Later he followed in his father's footsteps and worked for the Woodstock Die Casting Company, as did his wife, for over 25-years retiring in 1979. Richard was a member of BPOE Lodge 1043.

Richard, 71, died on a Tuesday at Sherman hospital in Elgin, Kane County. He was survived by his wife Lorraine of Woodstock, four-daughters, five-grandchildren and a brother Harold (Ruth) of Seattle. Richard was preceded by his parents, a granddaughter and a brother Lowell. A service was held on Friday the 13th at the funeral home. Burial was private. Memorials to Illinois Elks Crippled Children's Commission were suggested. Schneider-Leucht-Merwin and Cooney Funeral Home of Woodstock was in charge.

Biography* Flora White Conerty, 1918-1958:
Flora was the seventh child and third daughter born to a father born in Prussia and a mother who was a first generation Prussian-American born in Illinois. In 1920, the family was renting on Grant Street in Crystal Lake's 3rd ward (Nunda township), McHenry County, Illinois and her father was working as a contractor. Flora received an eighth grade education. In 1930, the family owned a $6,000 house in Crystal Lake's 1st ward (Algonquin township). The father Fred was working as a house carpenter. In1940, Flora married Kenneth Conerty at Bethany Evangelical church at Paulina Street and Irving Park Blvd in Chicago. The marriage was performed by pastor H. W. Dinkmeyer with witnesses M/M Edward Brandseth. After the wedding, Flora and Kenneth rented at 723 Connecticut in Gary, Indiana for $32/month. In October of that year they moved to Riley township in McHenry County.

Flora, of Marengo Route 1, died unexpectedly on a Monday in Rockford hospital at age 40. She was survived by her husband, son, three brothers, and four sisters. Flora's funeral was held on Wednesday at the Querhammer Funeral Home, Crystal Lake with the Rev. Paul Strasen of Union, Illinois officiating.

Darlene was the eldest of three children and the only daughter. Her early years were spent at 4036 North Redvale Avenue in the 27th ward of Chicago, Cook County, Illinois. By 1925, the family was living in Harvard in McHenry County. In 1930, the family was living at 103 West Burbank Street in the 3rd ward. Married in 1934, by 1935 Darlene and her family were living in Woodstock. In 1940, at 355 Lincoln Avenue in the 3rd ward. She and husband Robert began wintering in Forth Myers, Florida circa 1983.

Darlene, 77, of Jamaica Bay West, a gated mobile home park in Fort Myers, Florida, died on a Thursday. She was survived by husband, two sons, nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The funeral was held on Monday the 8th at the Church of the Resurrection in Fort Myers. Memorials to a favorite charity were suggested. The Phil Kister Funeral Home of Fort Myers was in charge. Darlene was buried in Harvard, Illinois.

James grew up in Chicago and Harvard, Illinois. He received a high school education and by 1935 was living in the Los Angeles, California area. In 1940, he was lodging with the Albert and Annie Alpaugh family at 2748 East 58th Street in Huntington Park, San Antonio township, Los Angeles County. James was working as an apprentice machinist in a metal shop. He had worked 40-hours in the last week of March. In 1939, he worked for 26-weeks and had wages of $600.

Robert was born the fourth of six and the youngest of three sons to a father Frank, a first generation Irish-American, and a mother Augusta, a first genration German-American. In 1920, the family lived at 405 Blackman Street in the 1st ward of Harvard, McHenry County, Illinois. The home was owned with mortgage and the father Frank worked as a plumber. In 1930, the house was free of mortgage and valued at $4,000. The mother Augusta had died and the father continued to work as a plumber for an auto parts manufacturing company. Robert completed four-years of high school and in 1935 still lived in Harvard but by 1940, he was married and renting at 355 Lincoln Avenue in Woodstock's 3rd ward for $32/month. Robert was employed as a tool maker for the typewriter company. In 1939, he worked 52-weeks and earned $2,400 in wages. Robert and wife Darlene began wintering in Fort Myers, Florida circa 1982. After Darlene died in 1919, Robert lived in Fort Myers year round.

Robert, 89, died on a Monday. He was survived by two sons, nine-grandchildren, 14-great-grandchildren and friend Lois Wick. A memorial service was held in Harvard, Illinois at later date. Robert was buried next to his wife Darlene.
