Biography* Lucille McCabe O'Kane, 1925-2014:
Lucille was the second eldest of six-children and had two younger sisters. She was born and raised on a farm in Sheridan township, Sioux County, Iowa. Lucille attended high School at George, Iowa and continued her education at the University of Northern Iowa where she received a teaching certificate. She later continued to take courses at Westmar College. Following their 1948 marriage, Lucille and Dick O'Kane farmed in South Dakota and Iowa. In 1967, when her father Matt McCabe died, they were living in Pocahontas, Iowa. They moved to Le Mars the following year. She taught in Catholic schools in the Diocese of Sioux City, in Pocahontas and at Gehlen Catholic in Le Mars for 25 years retiring in 1989. Lucille's husband Richard died in 2004 and in 2006 she moved to Omaha.

Lucille, 88, died on a Thursday at the Montclair Nursing Home in Omaha, Nebraska. She was survived by five-children, 15- grandchildren and five great-grandchildren: She was also survived by siblings: Patricia Coleman of Bettendorf, Iowa; Katie Lenoch of Madison, Wisconsin; Charles McCabe of Milford and John McCabe of Stitzer, Wisconsin. Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, Matthew and Elizabeth (Lucey) McCabe; husband Richard O'Kane and a son. The funeral was held Monday at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Le Mars with another son, the Rev. Patrick O'Kane, as celebrant. Pallbearers were her grandchildren. Carlsen-Feuerstein Funeral Home of Le Mars was in charge. Memorials suggested to Gehlen Catholic School.

Biography* Minnie May Smith Gossen, 1908-1994:
Minnie was the fourth of five children. One of the older children died before 1910. Minnie grew up in Grinnell City of Poweshiek County, Iowa and graduated from Grinnell high school in 1925. Her parents were both born in Iowa. The father was a house painter and later a house decorator. In 1910, the family was renting at 833 Prairie Street in the 3rd ward. In 1920, they owned a mortgaged house at 1013 Pearl Street in the 2nd ward5. By 1930 they owned the house, valued at $2,000, free and clear. After graduating from high school Minnie worked as a secretary for the local superintendent of schools and also worked at Grinnell Washing Machine Co. She later moved to Toledo (in Tama County, Iowa) where she worked for Iowa Power and Light Co. She married William Gossen in 1935 and in 1940, Minnie and William owned a $2,000 house at 522 11th Avenue in Grinnell's 2nd ward. In 1942, while Minnie was the Registrar for the local World War II draft board in Montezuma, Poweshiek County, Iowa, she registered her husband William!

Minnie also worked for Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance Company and the Congregational Christian Conference. She later worked for the Grinnell College Alumni Office until her retirement in 1975. Minnie was a member of the Grinnell United Church of Christ-Congregational, past noble grand of Rebekah Lodge No. 119, past president of Chapter Iowa AU of the National TTT Society (a national organization of women who donate their time, talent and treasures to send girls to camp), and a member of the Soroptimist Club (an international volunteer organization working to improve the lives of women and girls, in local communities and throughout the world).

Minnie, 86, died on a Friday at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. She was survived by her son; two grandsons; and one sister, Wilma Esler of Grinnell. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Herbert and Stanley Smith; one sister in infancy; and two grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. James S. Barge, pastor of the United Church of Christ-Congregational, officiating. Organist was Alice Renaud. Pallbearers were Tim Armstrong, Dusty Hamilton, Dan Sears, David Sears, Bill Vosburg and Marvin Wilson. Honorary bearers were Kenny Halstead, Kirk Halstead, Don Hamilton, Keith Vosburg, Fred White and James White.

Biography* Marion Brost Corcoran, 1914-1988:
Marion was the eldest child of Albert and Ida Brost. Albert was born in Ohio to Ohio born parents. Ida was a first generation German-American born in Ohio. In 1920, the family was renting at 1075 East 76th Sreett in Cleveland's 21st ward. Albert was working as a pattern maker in a metal and wood shop. By 1930 the family owned their $11,000 house at 2005 Goodnor Road in Cleveland Heights and Albert was a manager at the shop. Their was a second daughter Betty, 8-years younger than Marion. Marion completed four-years of high school. In 1940, still at home with her parents, she was working as a stenographer at the metal and wood shop. In 1939, Marion worked 52-weeks and earned $1,300.

Marion, 73, died on a Tuesday. Survived by sister Betty Kleckner. Ripepi Funeral Honm in charge.

Biography* Dorothie J. Lundeen Corcoran, 1920-2004:
In 1930, Dorothie was the youngest of four children and the second daughter. Her parents were both first generation Swedish-Americans. Dorothie's father Oscar was a dispatcher for the railroad. The family lived in a house they owned, valued at $8,000, at 765 Willard Street in the 3rd ward of Galesburg, Illinois. Dorothie graduated from the SwedishAmerican Hospital of Nursing in 1944 and afterwards worked in various hospitals and private practices. She also worked at Zenith TV Tube Factory. Dorothie was a member of Saint Mary's Catholic church in Woodstock. She was a member of the Mariola Club at Saint Mary's and of the Ladies of the Knights.

Dorothie, 84, of Woodstock, died at home on a Thursday. She was survived by three daughters, six grandchildren, one great-grandchild and a sister Norma "Sally" Swanson. Dorothie was preceded by her parents, her husband Francis in 17 Sep 2000, two-brothers Oscar B (Delpha) Lundeen Jr and Robert Lundeen, and six brother- and sister-in-laws Mary (Ben) Netzel, Margaret (Sam) Lazzarra, Tom (Ruth) Corcoran, John Corcoran, Joseph (Mariam) Corcoran and Harold Swanson. The funeral was held on Monday at the funeral home with Rev Judy Rooney, hospice chaplain, officiating. There was a private burial. Memorials were suggested to Hospice of Northeastern Illinois and to the Woodstock Public Library. Schneider-Leucht-Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, 1211 North Seminary Avenue, Woodstock was in charge.

Biography* Ruth Tegtmeier Corcoran, 1921-2007:
Ruth was the oldest of two children and the only daughter. She was born in Palatine, Illinois as were both her parents. Ruth's father William worked as a freight checker on a steam railroad. In 1930, the family was renting at 51 Plum Grove in Palatine Village for $35/month. In 1940, they were renting at 222 Bothwell Street for $25/month. Ruth had completed four-years of high school. In 1939, Ruth's father worked 48-weeks and earned $1,697. In 1947, Ruth was married to Thomas Corcoran by clergyman Glen G. Guman. Circa 2006, Ruth and Thomas moved to Providence, Rhode Island.

Ruth, 85, died on a Wednesday. She was survived by her husband Thomas, two sons, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Services were held at Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Highway, Palatine on Monday, 11 June. Her obituary listed her father as Robert Tegtmeier.
