Biography* Richard J Wood, 1924-1973:
Richard was fourth of six children born to Albert & Laura Woods and the second of two sons. Two older daughters were born in Oregon, Richard and his older brother were born in Washington and the two younger daughters were born in Illinois. Richard's father Albert was a first generation English Canada-American born in Wisconsin and his mother Laura was a first generation Norwegian-American born in Iowa. By 1930, the family was renting at 313 Geneva Street in Elmhurst, DuPage County, Illinois 2nd ward for $45/month. The father Albert was working as a plasterer in building construction. By 1935, they had moved to Dorr township in McHenry County and were farming. In 1940, they were renting a house on the farm for $15/month. Richard a student had completed one-year of high school. Richard served in the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII.

Richard, 49, of 215 South Madison in Woodstock died on a Sunday at McHerny Memorial Hospital. He fell down a flight of stairs at his friend Douglas Roewer's house at 209 North Madison and died three-hours later in hospital. John Schiller of Wonder Lake, a McHenry Co Deputy Coroner, said an inquest would be scheduled. Richard was survived by his wife Adaline, one son, two daughters, three-grandchildren and his mother Laura Wood of Portland, Oregon. The funeral was held on Wednesday at Saint Mary's Catholic church in Woodstock. Schneider-Leucht-Merwin-Cooney Funeral Home was in charge.

Note: Richard's death date on his tombstone is incorrectly inscribed with his burial date.

Biography* Crystal Conerty Shelton, 1905-1931:
Crystal was the eldest of four daughters born to Charles Conerty and Blanch Lynch. In 1910, the family lived at 3802 West Huron Street in Chicago's 35th ward. Sometime in the teens, Crystal's father Charles left the family and in 1920, Crystal was living with ehr maternal grandparents Joseph and Eva Lynch Dorr township, McHenry County, Illinois. Married circa 1925, within two-years Crystal contracted tuberculosis and by 1930 was hospitalized at the State Hospital in Elgin, Kane County.

Crystal, 26, died at hospital on a Monday. The funeral was held at the funeral home on a Thursday with the Rev Omar J Flugum officiating. She was buried in Ridgefield next to her mother and step-father. Gilbert Funeral Home was in charge.
