Biography* Thomas Francis Mahon, 1844-1921:
A first generation Irish-American born in New Jersey, Thomas came to Illinois with his parents at six-moths-of-age. In 1870, the family was farming in Hartland township, McHenry County. Married and with children, Thomas was living in Harvard, McHenry County, Illinois in 1880 and working as a section man on the railroad. He was unemlpoyed for four months in the year ending 01 June 1880. By 1900, Thomas had returned to farming with a rented farm in Hartland township.

Thomas died at his Hartland farm on a Saturday at age 77. He had been ill since April. Thomas was survived by his wife, six of his eleven children, two sisters: Mrs. P. Conerty of Chicago and Mrs. Joseph Meeter of Galena, Illinois; and one brother John W. Mahon of Sacramento, California. The funeral was held on Tuesday. Pall bearers were M. J. McCabe, Thomas King, M. Callahan, Will Cooney, J. D. Hurley, and Thomas MaGuire (sic). Relatives and friends who traveled from out of town included : Mr. Joseph Meeter of Galena, Paul Mahon of Dakota, James Mahon of Rockford, William and John Cheeseman, Pat Conerty, F. Corcoran, F. Murphy, and F. Leonard all of Chicago.

Biography* Margaret O'Shaughnessy Conerty, 1878-1954:
Born in Minnesota to a father, a first-generation Irish-American born in Illinois, and a mother, a first-generation Irish-Canadian born in Ontario, Margaret was the second of three children and the only girl. Raised on a farm in Fillmore township, Fillmore County, Minnesota she married local in 1900. Margaret and husband Mathew Conerty had one child, a daughter Winifred. By 1910, Margaret had separated from her husband Mathew and, with custody of their daughter, was living with her father Patrick O'Shaughnessy at 2715 Mallon Avenue in Spokane, Washington's 4th ward. In 1920, still with her father, the trio were living at 2119 W College Ave also in the 4th ward - a house that father Patrick owned. Margaret was working as a stenographer. In 1930, Margaret was in the same house with her daughter Winifred, Winifred's husband Thomas Nevin and two grandchildren. Margaret owned the house and father Patrick was not listed. In 1940, she was renting at 404 South Cedar Street in Spokane for $33/month and living alone. Margaret was working as a stenographer at a loan business. She worked 43-hours the last week of March, earned $1470 in wages for 52-weeks work in 1939 and had no other income. In 1954 she moved near her daughter in Long Beach, California. She was a member of Saint Barnabas parish.

Margaret, 75, of 3914 Linden Avenue, died on a Wednesday in a Long Beach hospital. Margaret was survived by daughter Mrs Winifred Nevin of Long Beach and 5-grandchildren. The funeral was held on Saturday. Sheeler-McFedyen Funeral Home was in charge.
