Biography* | Thomas J. Hasty, 1888-????: A first generation Irish-American, Thomas was living with his Ireland born parents at 5320 Hunt Avenue in the 24th ward of Saint Louis in 1900. He was a man of short stature and medium build with blue eyes and brown hair. In 1917, Thomas was living at 4323 Hunt Avenue, supporting his mother and working as a stock clerk at the Saint Louis Water Department. After his marriage in 1918, he and his wife rented at 4212a Shaw Avenue in the 24th ward. In 1922, Thomas witnessed Hannah Begley's (his wife's aunt) declaration of intent to become a United States citizen. By 1930, he had been promoted to store keeper at the water department. Thomas and Julia owned their house, worth $5,000, at 6458 Lloyd Avenue in the 24th ward. Julia's mother and her two maiden aunts lived with them. Shortly after his wife's death in 1931, Thomas abandoned his daughter Rosemary never to be heard from again. Rosemary was raised by her grandmother and the two aunts. |

Biography* | Michael J. "Mike" Walsh, 1875-1927: Mike's christening sponsors were Thomas Walsh and Bridget Walsh (his father's siblings?). In 1900, Michael was living with his widowed father at 3129 North 12th Street in the 2nd ward and working as a teamster. In 1910, he and his wife were renting at 3119 North 12th St (a duplex). Mike was working as a clerk for a teamster. His brother William was at the same address. In 1920, the couple was renting at 1610a Cass Avenue in the 4th ward. Mike was a road boss at a car company. At the time of his death, Mike was a clerk for the auto licensing department. Mike, a resident of 7744 Florissant Road, died at home on a Wednesday at age 51. His death cert incorrectly reported his birth year as 1873 and his age as 53. The informant on the death cert was his sister, Mrs Henry Muckermann of the same address. Cause of death was reported as cellulitis of the face and chronic nephritis. The attending physician was Dr. Geo. H. Klinkerfuss, 334 Bermuda Avenue. Mike's funeral was on Friday from the residence and Saint Ann's church. Arthur J Donnelly Funeral Home, 2039 Wash Street was in charge. |

Biography* | Peter F. Walsh, 1877- 1953: Peter was christened by the Rev. A Eustace and sponsored by Patrick Dolan and Mary Kenny. In 1900, Peter was living with his widowed father at 3129 North 12th Street in the 2nd ward and working as a police officer. In 1904, he and Ella Wood were married at St. Leo's, 2315 Mullanphy Street, by Pastor James T. Coffey. In 1910, Peter and Ella were renting at 3904 North 11th Street in the 2nd ward. In 1918, when he registered for the World War I draft, Peter was living at 1515 Angelrodt and was described as being of tall height and stout build with blue eyes and dark hair. As a police officer he was assigned to a Twelfth Street precinct station (208 ? 12th St). In 1920, he and Ella rented a duplex at 3336 Blair Avenue. In 1930, they owned a $5,000 duplex at 3107 12th Street in the 3rd ward. Peter's son William rented one half of the duplex for $25/month and his brother William lived three doors away at 3119 12th. Peter, age 75, a resident of 734 Baden Avenue and a member of the St Louis Police Dept Veteran's Assn, died on a Wednesday at Christian Hospital. Cause of death was metastic carcinoma and cancer of the stomach. He was attended by Dr. N. J. Honich, 8902 Riverview Blvd. Peter was survived by his wife Ella Wood, Sons Peter and Edgar, siblings Det William Walsh, Blanche Mertens and Mamie Quinn. One of his surviving sons, William, was a police sargent and the other, Edgar, was a fireman. Peter's funeral was held at Holy Cross Church on Baden Avenue. Stock Mortuary, Grand & Florissant was in charge. Memorials to the St. Louis Police Dept Vet's Assn. were suggested. |

Biography* | Lillian M. Walsh Muckermann, 1878-1945: According to the church record, Lillian was christened as Bridget Elizabeth Walsh. Her sponsors were her mother's brother, Michael O'Brien, and his future wife, Catherine Flynn. Lillian's mother died in 1895 when Lillian was 15. Lillian continued to live with her widowed father at 3129 North 12th Street in Saint Louis 2nd ward until her own 1901 marriage. Lillian's marriage was witnessed by four people: Blanche Walsh (Lillian's sister), John Muckermann (groom's father?), Michael Walsh (Lillian's brother), and Katie Walsh (who is this?). In 1910, the family was renting at 3129 North 12th Street in the 2nd ward (the same address as her sister). In 1920, they were renting at 3107 12th Street in the 2nd ward. In 1930, they owned a $14,000 house at 7422 Florissant Road in Normandy, St. Louis County. Lillian, a resident of 7414 West Florisant Road in Normandy, died on a Thursday at age 55, five days before her 56th birthday. The causes were bronchial pneumonia and uterine cancer. She was attended by Geo. H. Klinkerfuss, 340 Bermuda Avenue. Lillian's funeral was held on Monday from St. Ann's Church in Normandy. Cullen & Kelly Funeral Home, 4386 Lindell, was in charge of arrangements. |

By 1920, he was a teamster boss. James, a resident of 1417 Farrar Street, died at his home on a Tuesday. He was 40 years of age. Causes of death were chronic int nephritis and uremia-black heart. He was attended by Dr. Luke B, Tiernan, 3718 Jennings Road. James' funeral was held on Friday from Our Lady of Good Counsel. Arthur J Donnelly Funeral Home, 2039 Wash Steet was in charge. |

Blanche died on a Wednesday at age 80. Survived by one daughter and one son. Her funeral was held from Immaculate Conception Church in Maplewood, Saint Louis County. Krieshauser's South Funeral Home, 4228 S Kingshighway was in charge. |
