Biography* Fred Owen Jones, 1912-1982:
Fred was the eldest of three children. His father was born in Kentucky, his mother was a first generation Irish-American born in Minnesota. In 1920, the family was operating a farm they owned with mortgage in school district 30 of Teton County, Montana. By 1930, they had bought a farm in school district 74 of Cascade County and were living there. Fred completed three-years of college. In 1935, Fred was living in Seatlle, Washington and subsequently married a woman from there. By 1940, he, his wife and daughter were renting at 1823 First Avenue South in the 3rd ward of Great Falls, Cascade County, Montana. Fred worked 60-hours the week-ending 31 March selling life insurance. In 1939, he earned $2,594.

Fred, 69, died on a Monday.

Biography* Howard Ernest Jones, 1917-1997:
Howard, the youngest of three children and the second son, was born in Deaconess hospital in Great Falls, Montana. The doctor in attendance was R. B. Durnin. Howard's family was homesteading in school district 30 of Teton County, east of Power, Montana, about 30-miles northwest of Great Falls. By 1930, the family was living in sschool district 30 of Cascade County. He farmed the homestead and in the Dupuyer area in Pondera County for most of his life. Howard and wife Phyllis retired in 1982 and moved to Great Falls. At his death they were living at 26 20th Street SW.

Howard, 80, died on a Thursday at a Great Falls health care center of natural causes. Howard was survived by daughters Julie Stokes of Shelby, Montana and Linda Knapp of Spokane, Washington sons Ron of Dupuyer, Montana and Jerry of Conrad, Montana and 10-grandchildren. His wife Phyllis died in 1989. At Howard's request there was no service and he was buried on the family homestead. O'Connor Funeral Home of Great Falls was in charge.
