Biography* Anna Rose Needham Hess Ryan, 1885-1972:
Anna moved from Spring Green to the Baraboo area in 1914 and became a member of Saint Joseph's Parish.

She died, at age 87, on a Wednesday in a Reedsburg Hospital. Anna was survived by five sons, six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and two sisters. She was preceded in death by two husbands, two sons (one in infancy), two brothers, and four sisters. Funeral services were held on Saturday from Saint Joseph's in Baraboo with the Rev. Joseph Henry officiating.

Biography* George Hess, 1872-1920:
Christened on 11 February 1872 at Saint Luke's in Plain by the Rev. Theophilus Beau and sponsored by George Reely and Helen Reely. George worked as a farmer until he switched to blacksmithing in his thirties. He was employed at that trade in Sauk City until he was obliged by illness to give up working in March 1920 and return to Spring Green to live with his mother.

George died on a Thursday of tuberculosis of the spine. He was survived by his mother, one brother, and two sisters. Funeral services were held on Saturday at Saint John's in Spring Green with the Rev. J. B. Brudermanns officiating.

Biography* Philip J. Hess, 1882-1909:
Philip's family moved to Wilson Creek in Spring Green Township soon after he was born, and this is where he grew up. He was married, probably at Saint John's in Spring Green, by the Rev. Jos. Colling with witnesses George Hess, his brother, and Pauline Groulter. He worked as a farmer.

Philip became "subject to severe attacks of spinal trouble which later spread to his head causing partial unconsciousness for several days and finally death" (from his obituary). His death occured on a Wednesday. Philip was survived by his wife, a seven-month-old son, his mother, four brothers, and two sisters. Funeral services were held on Saturday at Saint John's in Spring Green with the Rev. Brudermann officiating.

Biography* Annie (Neuheisel) Hornung, 1870-1901:
When her father died in 1877, Annie and her brother Casper were adopted by her uncle and aunt, Philip and Catherine Neuheisel. She lived the rest of her life in their home in Spring Green except for three years spent in Minneapolis with her sister Francisca's family. Her main occupation was that of dressmaker. In Minneapolis, she was employed as a wire weaver.

Annie died as the result of burns sustained in a gasoline explosion which occured in the kitchen of her home. The accident occured about 6:30 p.m. on a Monday and she died about 10 p.m. the next day. Her uncle, who sustained terrible burns in the accident as well, survived. Funeral services were held on Thursday morning at Saint John's in Spring Green with the Rev. Laurer officiating.

Biography* Adam M. Soeldner, 1895-1980:
Adam was a first generation American born to German parents. He was employed by Ed Kraemer & Sons until his retirement in 1955. Adam also was a member of the Village Board of Plain, The Catholic Knights of Wisconsin and Kraemer Jennings American Legion Post No. 398. Adam was of medium height and build with grey eyes and light hair. He had been a Private 1st Class in the United State Army and a member of the American Expeditionary Force in France during World War I.

Adam, age 84, died unexpectedly on a Monday of an apparent heart attack. He was survived by his wife, one son, one daughter, five brothers, and four sisters. His funeral was held on Thursday from Saint Luke's in Plain with the Rev. Lawrence Keppler officiating.
