Biography* | Mary Josephine Schumacher Neuheisel, 1884-1972: Born to a father born in Germany and a mother born in Wisconsin, she was known by her middle name, Josephine. There is a discrepancy on her birth year. The Social Security Death Index lists the year as 1884. Her South Dakota birth record, obituary and tombstone list it as 1885. Josephine was living in Ethan, Davison County at the time of her 1905 marriage. She was a member of the C. D. A. for fifty years. Josephine, age 87, died on a Wednesday at the Good Samaritan Nursing Center. Survivors included one son, one foster daughter, 13 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and one brother. She was preceded in death by five sons, five sisters, and three brothers. Funeral services were held on Saturday at Sacred Heart Church in Parkston with the Rev. Joseph Mardian officiating. Six great-grandsons served as pall bearers: Kevin Neuheisel, Douglas Callies, Greg Reiser, Wayne Reiser, Steven Uttecht, and Jeffrey Uttecht. Biography* | Harold J. Neuheisel 1905-1966: There is a discrepancy over Harold's birthdate. It is listed as 15 December 1905 in his Hutchinson county birth record and as 19 December 1905 in his obituary, his Minnehaha county death record, and in the Social Security Death Index. Harold was living in Parkston at his 1929 marriage. He was married by the Rev. William Eckl before witnesses Joseph H. Neuheisel, his brother, and Marjorie Hohn, his bride's sister. In 1930, he and Evelyn were renting a farm in Tobin township, Davison County. They continued farming in the Ethan and Armour, South Dakota areas before moving to Sioux Falls, South Dakota in 1947. There he was employed at the John Morrell & Co. until 1961 when he retired due to ill health. A resident of 508 South Sneve Avenue in Sioux Falls, Harold, age 60, died of coronary heart disease on a Thursday at a Sioux Falls hospital. He was survived by his wife, one daughter, one son, six grandchildren, his mother, three brothers, and one sister. Funeral services were held on Monday at Saint Lambert's Church in Sioux Falls. |

Biography* | Evelyn Marie Hohn Neuheisel, 1910-2009: Both of Evelyn's parents were born in South Dakota. She was living in Ethan, South Dakota at the time of her 1929 marriage. Evelyn was married to Harold Neuheisel by the Rev. William Eckl with her sister and Harold's brother as witnesses. They moved to Armour, South Dakota in 1938. In Armour, Evelyn cleaned houses for local families The family moved to Sioux Falls in 1947 where she worked for the John Morrell Company in the Sausage deptartment. Evelyn retired from Morrell in 1974 after 27 years. She enjoyed crafts including crocheting and needlepoint. Evelyn also made afghans for family and friends. She was a devout catholic and member of St Lambert's parish. Evelyn, a resident of 4500 Prince of Peace Place in Sioux Falls died on a Saturday at age 98years/07months/09days. She was survived by one son, a son-in-law, seven grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren, and one sister. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one daughter, one sister, and one brother. |

Biography* | Joseph Herman Nueheisel, 1907-1970: Joseph was a dairy farmer in the Dimock and Parkston areas. He belonged to the Knights of Columbus where he was a lecturer and past Grand Knight. He also was active in the Parkston Commercial Club. Joseph, age 62, died on a Sunday at the Parkston hospital of a myocardial infarction. He was survived by his wife, three daughters, one son, seven grandchildren, his mother, one brother, and one foster sister. He was preceded in death by four brothers. Funeral services were held on Wednesday at Saints Peter & Paul Church in Dimock with the Rev. Wilfred Schlitz and Msgr. U. J. Rodenbur officiating. |
