Biography* | Dolores Ellen Laivell, 1905-1995: Dolores christening sponsors were William Flannery and Ellen Laivell, her father's sister. She attended Chatfield High School and Rosary College in River Forest, Illinois. After two years of college Dolores went to work for the Minnesota State Highway Departent. In 1950, she was living in Rochester at 426 Second Street in Apt 3 in an annex at the rear of the building After Dolores father died in 1956, she returned to Chatfield to take over the operation of the family clothing store. Dolores never married. In 1970 she claimed social security benefits and retired from the store two years later, Dolores moved into the Chosen Valley Care Center at 1102 Liberty Street in 1988. Dolores, 89, died at the CVC Center on a Sunday. Mrs Robert Sorenson 411 N Main St, Chatfield was informant on the death cert. Cause of death was senile degeneration of the brain (5-years), rheumatoid arthritis, She was attended by a doctor from the Olmsted Medical Group, 15 Second Street, Chatfield. Dolores was survived by two cousins. A sister preceded her. The funeral was held at Saint Mary's Catholic church with the Rev Joseph R McGinnis officiating. Riley Funeral Home, Chatfield was in charge. Dolores was buried with her parents and sister. Memorials were suggested to Saint Mary's Catholic church. |

Biography* | Thomas P. Enright, 1832-1916: Born in County Kerry, Ireland, Thomas immigrated to the United States in 1850 at age 17. By 1857, he had become a United States citizen and was living in Preston Township, Fillmore County, Minnesota with a Canadian couple M/M Ely. He had at least one brother John P. Enright who was living near Decorah, Iowa about the time that Thomas married Mary McCabe in 1858. By 1865, Thomas was living in Carrolton Township. In January of 1869 he bought a farm of 160-acres in Section 15 of Fountain township. He sold this farm 15-months later to Luke Miller and bought another 160-acres in Section 16 [NorthEast Quarter] of Carrolton townsghip. By 1896 he had acquired an additional 100-acres in the same section [the North Half of the NorthWest Quarter (80-acres) and the North Half of the NorthEast Quarter (20-acres)]. By the end of January 1898, he had put the farm of 260-acres up for sale. The advertisement in the Preston National Republican read (in part): "Farm for Sale - 260 acre farm for $25/acre, a part of the purchase money on five, seven or ten years time at 7 per cent interest. Located on Irish Ridge, four miles from Lanesboro in section 16 of Carrolton township. 140 acres under cultivation. T.P.Enright." In 1900, Thomas retired and his son John took over the farm. Thomas and Mary moved into the village of Fountain. Thomas, 83, died at his home in Fountain on a Monday. He had been ill for some time. He was survived by his wife Mary, son John J of Carrolton tp, dau's Mrs Timothy Lynch of Holt township, Mrs E. E. Hellberg of Sheldon, Missouri and Anna Enright at home in Fountain with her mother [daughter Mrs Thomas Scanlon was not mentioned in his obit]. |
